About this Cook
I am a mom of five children... three of my own, and two bonus children from my husband's previous marriage. I am also a grandma to two beautiful little girls. I have just secured a part time seasonal job at Williams Sonoma, and I am really looking forward to it! (Not sure how much of that paycheque will actually reach home, however....)
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking comfort food. I enjoy chopping, and seasoning soups, and stews, and pasta sauces. I love, mostly to cook whatever is going to bring pleasure, and a smile to the face of whomever is sharing in whatever I have prepared.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking traditions aren't really to do with a specific food, although if you asked any of my children, they would be able to tell you what they consider "tradition". My favorite family cooking traditions involve working toward creating family and memories for my blended family, and having each one of them at table when we gather. As much as they would each tell you they have their favorite menu items, the key for us is being together, and laughing, and sharing.
My cooking triumphs
My Italian Sausage Tortellini soup receives many accolades. Two of my children moved out recently, and both have taken my spaghetti sauce recipe, adapted it, and taken pride in sharing it.
My cooking tragedies
My greatest tragedy has to be when my oven chose not to cook my Christmas turkey completely. Half of it was raw, and the other half was overcooked! The other tragedy would be when my husband added icing sugar to my stew instead of flour......

Pumpkin Smoothie
I really enjoyed this! I used a few ice cubes instead of frozen pumpkin, and substituted almond milk for regular milk , which cuts back on the calories and sugar and adds protein. I found it to be a great mid-afternoon pick me up! Next time I think I'll try vanilla and stevia!

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf
Big hit in my household! This one will be a keeper! I too increased the quinoa and the meatloaf was still very moist. I might add a little more hot sauce next time to give it a little more zip. For those of you who read the recipe and are afraid it will be too spicy, you can't even tell there is hot sauce in it!
