Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Pleasant Pork Chops

I followed suggestions to include mushrooms & half white wine/half chicken broth. Everyone absolutely loved it. This would be perfect when there's company for dinner - Elegant & delicious with a minimum of time spent "fussing" in the kitchen!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

I made this exactly as directed for a New Year's Eve party. Everyone, including myself, LOVED it and decided it was even better than any of the many restaurant versions we've had. It also reheats beautifully in the microwave - even several days later. I even stirred some up with macaroni as a side dish the next night instead of macaroni & cheese... Awesome!

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail

I followed the recipe exactly when I made this for my New Year's Eve party. It was wonderful when I first threw it together (I couldn't resist a taste!). But after marinating in the frig for 3 hours as directed, I'm not sure what happened because the flavor changed. I'm afraid nobody at the party, including myself, cared for it very much.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Made this according to the recipe using Jiff peanut butter and real butter (not margarine). Made sure everything was room temperature and alternated adding powdered sugar and milk to the butter/peanut butter blend. It came out perfect! Light, fluffy and intense peanut butter flavor. This recipe is a gold star Keeper!

Dilly Onion Bread

I use the heck out of my bread machine and everyone always enjoys the results, but this recipe was a HUGE hit w/ family & guests last night. I won't "rate" a recipe unless I follow it exactly and that's what I did with this one. No one thought the dill was too strong. I'm making another loaf this morning and thought I'd add some caraway seeds. My grown daughter stopped me, saying: "This recipe is perfect! Don't mess with it!"

Colonial Brown Bread

Absolutely delicious! I bake a lot of bread and this is would be one of my favorites even if it weren't so darned easy and quick. I took one person's advice and substituted 1/2 cup molasses for 1/2 cup of the brown sugar. It came out moist & beautifully textured. This is a Keeper!

Gary's Stuffed Mushrooms

The use of the stuffing mix makes this recipe quick, easy and wonderfully seasoned - perfect for a small New Years party. I substituted 1/2 lb. of sausage for the 1/2 lb of crab and topped it w/ Parmesan. Had enough filling to generously stuff 35 regular sized mushrooms with filling left over. They were the first of the appetizers to disappear and then I found guests in the kitchen eating the left-over filling with spoons!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

These really were great...and unbelievably Easy! As suggested in comments, I substituted vanilla for the 2 tsp of water. The whole family loved them and I worried whether there'd be enough left for trick or treaters. Then I realized they'd been so quick and easy to throw together that, heck, I could just make more!

Apple Crumble Pie
