Cioppino

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Mmm so good! I made this for my boyfriend's birthday and he devoured it. This is the first time I've cooked with white wine and my head was spinning at the huge selection in the supermarket. I just chose a random $10 one and it turned out great! Instead of adding water I added more of the wine instead. I also served this with plain white rice because my boyfriend prefers rice over bread and I think it made the dish seem more like a complete meal. Thank you for this recipe! It really helped make his birthday special.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
I've never had fruit dip of any kind so I was very curious about this recipe. When the fruits are naturally sweet and perfect they don't need a dip like this, but when they aren't (which is most of the time where I live!) this dip is a perfect and delicious way to add some sweetness. It's also really tasty on its own. I added a bit of orange juice like the others suggested and I think it gave the dip an extra layer of flavor.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
I had some wonderful peanut butter kiss cookies in the past and I wanted to make some myself, but these cookies just didn't have the right consistency. They were too soft and broke apart too easily. I wouldn't recommend this particular recipe if you want the cookie part to resemble more like an actual cookie.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I can never go back to regular pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving after trying this recipe! I've made it a few times now and I found that adding about 1/2 cup of sour cream made the cheesecake creamier and less dense without changing the taste. I used pure pumpkin puree because it was on sale (although I would have rather used pumpkin pie filling) and since I love cinnamon I doubled the amount and omitted the other spices. It still tasted wonderful. The important thing about this recipe is that the longer the cheesecake is allowed to sit the better the texture will be, so don't cut into it right away! I usually let it sit on the counter for at least an hour.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
For a busy student such as myself this recipe is a god send. So flavorful, filling, and EASY. I liberally seasoned the ribs with salt, pepper, light brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper before adding the BBQ sauce. After that I pretty much followed the recipe exactly and the ribs turn out great every time!

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
My family comes from a culture where they never use balsamic vinegar. I was a little worried that I would not like balsamic vinegar because it has such a strong smell and taste straight out of the bottle. Wanting to try something new with my roasted potatoes, I decided to give this recipe a shot. The first time I made it I didn't let the balsamic vinegar reduce enough so I was left with that very strong vinegar taste that I didn't enjoy. Recently I decided to give it another try and added in the vinegar earlier, and to my surprise the potatoes turned out to be so delicious. It wasn't so sharp this time and I could taste some of the sweetness of the vinegar.

Boneless Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
These were so easy and full of flavor. I've tried other chicken nugget/tender recipes and the breading just falls of, but this one is perfect! I can't wait to make these for football games :)

Soy and Garlic Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
This recipe was a bit too bland for me. I had it with plain white rice and I just felt like it needed something more to it. Perhaps my problem was that I cooked it indoors on my stove so it was missing that wonderful charcoal taste.

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
If you love the taste of garlic like I do then you'll like this recipe. I only rated this 4 stars because despite the garlic butter mixture being pretty good, I don't think I would miss it on my steak if it wasn't there.

Baked Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
The flavors were very good but the breadcrumb coating turned out a little bit soggy. I was missing the great cripsy texture that I love so much on chicken nuggets. Next time I will just fry them or use panko bread crumbs instead.

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
So simple and delicious! I like my food with a lot of flavor so I seasoned the chicken directly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and a little bit of cayenne pepper. I also seasoned the flour itself with more garlic powder and paprika. I did everything else according to the recipe and it turned out great. I've tried making fried chicken before but I could never get the flavoring and crispiness right, but this one is a keeper!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
This was my first attempt at chicken pot pie and I couldn't have been happier with the results. I made chicken soup the other day so I had leftover chicken and chicken broth that I didn't know what to do with. This was such a perfect and easy way to get rid of my leftovers. The only changes I made to the recipe was omitting the celery seed, adding garlic powder, and making extra sauce.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
I found that the tangy flavor was too strong for my tastes. The pork chops also came out way too dry even though the cut down on the baking time that was suggested by the original recipe.

Glazed Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
This recipe was so easy and delicious. I added a few ingredients to the chicken for more depth in flavor as suggested by the other reviewers. I seasoned the chicken wings with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and baked them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes, then turned them over to bake for an additional 40 minutes. I then basted the wings with the sauce and baked them some more for 20 minutes. On the side I steamed some broccoli and seasoned them with butter, salt, and pepper. They tasted so AMAZING when mixed with the sauce and juices from the chicken wings. It's a good way to get your kids to eat vegetables because the sauce with the broccoli probably tasted even better than the chicken itself, and this is coming from someone who normally does not enjoy broccoli.
