About this Cook
Mom of 3 sons & a HUGE hubby (not fat), so food is a BIG part of our lives! It is truly a thrill to watch someone eat what I make and see them enjoy it. I'm not about making the same old thing...though tried and true recipe books are my favorite. I read recipes & cookbooks like others read novels....it is a true love story =)
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake, but find I eat it, so I try to down play that. I love to change up recipes and try new. I like to try anything in the slow cooker...though my most astute son when it comes to cooking, tells me he thinks everything in the crockpot tastes the same.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a mom of 3 boys, I felt very compelled to teach boys that cooking is not just a woman's job. All of them can step IT up in the kitchen and instinctually, my youngest son out cooks me any day of the week. He can literally take a bite of something I've made and say..."it's a little starchy, or what's that new flavor in the meatloaf".. CRAZY! Not so much a cooking tradition, but an "eating" tradition, every meal we share as a family we play what is called High/Low..you don't have to have a high and you don't have to have a Low, but we go around the table and share our High's/Low's of our day..on a good cooking day, dinner is inevitably a high for someone!

My cooking tragedies
Many Many Many crock pot meals...why do they all end up being pot roast or beef/pork stew??!! Oh and much too often, I forget the bread in the oven & 1/2 way through the meal I jump up to remove the blackened remains of some sort of bread!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
Yummy! Dropped the fresh onion for some sprinkled in dehydrated (kid trick =). Used 5 potatoes (which was overkill...4 would have been fine). I was short on time, so I put the potatoes in the microwave for 5ish minutes and then sliced them..peel & all. Totally cut the cooking time down to 45 minutes, which was perfect for my meatloaf. This potato will go into rotation as they are easy & tasty!

Grilled Delmonico Steaks
Made for the 1st time tonight...DELISH! I hadn't read any reviews, but by looking at ingredients, ignored the salt and used low sodium soy sauce and it tasted great. Let it marinade overnight until the next evening and was perfect. We will put this in our regular rotation. Tender!!!

Sugar Cookie Icing
I read A LOT of the reviews and I just don't get how people say the receipt didn't work. It was perfect. You just had to adjust the thickness w/small amounts of milk or corn syrup and blend really well each time you added extra until you got your desired thickness. As for the taste, it was fabulous! If you don't like almond extract you can't say the cookies tasted bad, you should say they weren't a flavor you cared for. I took them to my school's teacher lounge and they were complimented up and down. I will never use another receipts...O and they were totally stackable in a container. I frosted at 8 pm and by 7 am they were perfectly dried and ready to go...DELISH
