I am a 23 year old woman. I don't have a great desire to be a master chef but I want to have some basics. I want to have some knowledge. And I want to expand my horizons. My cooking background has been from a box in th efreezer. While I may use that often to simplify a recipe Id really like to be able to make something of it. Dont want to be a chef but being a decent cook is a high priority
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake cakes using fancy cake pans (pirate ships, castles). But I am also growing into loving to make a dinner people enjoy. Chicken and ground beef are amongst my most common uses.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A lot of our cooking is from a freezer box. My mother is a very good baker and usually bakes christmas gifts for the family.Her specialty is Zucchini bread. It is amazing. My father is pretty much just hungry.
My cooking triumphs
My favorite meal I have made is a Spaghetti Pie. Its simple but delicious. I found the recipe in a book that my friends grandmother left at work. The picture looked good so I snagged the recipe and told my family "IM COOKING TONIGHT" They stood aside slightly scared, partially on the account that I never cook nor want to cook and partially that Spaghetti Pie sounds so strange. My first one ever came out perfectly. It boosted my confidence and made me want to do so much more.
My cooking tragedies
Our oven is old. Older than I am. It has its own time and temperature guidelines. In general we assume it will always take at least 5 minutes longer than its supposed to. the problem is its only a guess and check. And while my family doesnt mind cookies on the darker side I prefer them light. But it happens. Also my first attempt at baking red velvet rose cakes (shaped like a rose) I was afraid of adding too much flour to the pain and ended up unable to remove them. They slightly resembled roses.. but not much. Angelfood cake disagrees with me as well.

Mom's Mandelbrot
I leave out the almonds because I don't care for them. I also sprinkle cinnamon sugar on one of the loaves before cutting and baking longer. I split the baking time in half flipping the pieces after 5 minutes. A few did break but who minds a broken cookie.

Easiest Pot Roast Ever
this is a perfect sunday dinner.i think i should use whole carrots cut up next time. very simple and made me fall in love with my crock pot, DELICIOUS. im not a big fan of eating leftovers, but for this ill make an exception

Brenda's Pepperoni Chicken Rollups
This was a wonderful receipe. I did everything the same except that I forgot to add the cheese (which I wish I hadn't) and that we cut the chicken breasts in half first so that theywere thinner for cooking. I tried a chicken recipe not long ago and well it ended up raw so this one I wanted to make sure got cooked. Plus this looked really cool, like a cinnamon bun :)
