My husband’s favorite cookies are chocolate chip and nothing else will do. He’ll eat others but they just don’t hold a candle to chocolate chip cookies in his book. Now imagine his surprise when I want to make some cookies and decide to add cocoa powder
to the dough because it’s, well…..never mind. Let’s just say I was craving chocolate that day and a few chips just weren’t gonna cut it. His review of that recipe “They’re just ok. I like regular chocolate chip cookies better.” “I know hon!” And I can’t even
think about getting a warm welcome out of a batch of white chocolate chip cookies with cranberries & pecans. They just won’t do either. Or how about Indonesia Pork for dinner instead of his favorite breaded pork chops I’ve made for years. “It’s just ok.” The
look on his face was priceless when he tastes Lemon Chicken Pasta when we’re used to Chicken Piccata. “Don’t make this again.” I agreed. Not good at all! Not every recipe gets the thumbs down - we’ve found several keepers. Such as Awesome Red Wine Pot Roast,
Sloppy Jo Sandwiches, Beef or Chicken Marinade, or Turkey and Black Bean Chili to name a few.
I, like most cooks, have several family favorite recipes that I turn to on a regular basis ranging from chili, lasagna, pork chops, meatloaf, chicken soup and roast beef. But that doesn’t stop me from getting in a food slump occasionally. That’s when I
turn to Allrecipes.com.
I found Allrecipes.com about 13 years ago when one of those slumps had me stumped. I decided to search the internet for dinner ideas. I was instantly hooked. I eventually found my way to the exchange aka The Buzz now and wanted to be part of the “group”.
I signed up for my account in 2001 and the rest is history. Hello, my name is Kelly and I am an addict!
I will be MIA but my husband doesn’t have to look too far - he’ll find me with drool running down my chin while staring at my computer screen with all the wonderful recipes to choose from on Allrecipes.com. I sure have gone through a lot of napkins. And
I have kept the paper companies in business because my cupboard seems to be overflowing with printouts of Allrecpes.com recipes that I printed off with every intention of trying.
And if it weren’t for Allrecipes.com my pantry would be bare. Things I would never have dreamed of trying before have found their way onto my pantry shelves. Things such as steel cut oats, Kalamata Olives, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, basamati rice,
orzo, hoisin sauce and quinoa to name a few. And my refrigerator has things like fresh lemons and limes, freshly grated parmesan cheese, feta cheese, hummus, and greek yogurt. Now all these new flavors and textures may not always be well received but we have
found a few new favorites to add to the recipe rotation.
I have also gained a few new friends (and I’m sure a few new pounds) because of Allrecipes.com. I signed up for the Allstars program and have been participating since January and have been having so much fun. Trying recipes and products I wouldn’t dream
of trying before, rating, reviewing and photographing them have been enjoyable for me. But I also enjoy the interaction with the people I have met in that program. Really great people with the same interests! Doesn’t get much better than that.
I have Allrecipes.com to thank for helping me break out of my shell and broaden my horizons in the kitchen. Here’s to you Allrecipes and peeps!
