About this Cook
I was born and raised in Ohio but have been living in the UK for the past 10 years with my Scottish husband and our two children.
My favorite things to cook
Even though I live here in the UK I tend to cook all the recipes my mom and grandma have passed onto me. I love good ole country cooking..it helps me feel closer to home. :-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is my favourite! My husband and I cook a big traditional Thanksgiving dinner every year. It is very important to me that my children grow up familiar with their Ohio roots.
My cooking triumphs
I love baking! I'm always proud when something turns out paticularly well. Having my grandma's pumpkin cake recipe turn out perfect was a great day for me. My British friends love my pumpkin cake and pumpkin pie.
My cooking tragedies
I tried a recipe about a year ago that you wouldn't feed to a condemned man. I can't even remember what it was called now..all I remember was how nasty it smelled and tasted. I get nauseous just thinking about that night! :-P

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
The first time I tried this recipe I thought it was amazing! I just made another batch but I added a bit more sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract and the recipe went from amazing to fantastic! I know that some have said that this recipe doesn't need vanilla but I honestly think it adds that something special to the muffins. A definite keeper!

Soft Sugar Cookies V
Aside from leaving out the nutmeg (not a fan) and adding a dash of cinnamon I followed this recipe step by step and for some reason my cookies didn't turn out right. They didn't puff up at all..not how other people have described their cookies. They are soft and chewy but look "caved in". I can't figure it out! Any input from others would be great. This was my first attempt at sugar cookies and I feel so annoyed at my result. I'm sure it's not the recipe..I must have gone wrong somewhere! :-(
