My sister is allergic to all legumes, so she can't eat most japanese food that we have found recipes for. But I wanted to have a food to represent each movie for the Oscars this year and needed a japanese recipe for "Lost in Translation". I was about to despair (the other option was whiskey cake and I didn't want everyone getting drunk) and then I found this! We bought the ingredients and hoped it would work. Well, we are all fans of spicy food here so the bite was just suited to our tastes. We also love veggies and now we have a recipe to fall back on for pot-lucks were it seems that there will be twelve variations on "hot dogs in sauce" but lacking green vegetables. So, we now have a food we all can eat without trips to the ER AND love.

We just tried this today and we were all very pleased with the result. However, we made a double recipe and used six eggs rather than eight. We also cut out the nut-meg and reduced the sugar. This is VERY GOOD and we will be making it again. (Soon, I hope!)

This was amazing! We made two loaves and ate both in one day! Really REALLY great!

This is the best! It is a little spicy so if you don't like that, TRY IT ANYWAY! just cut back on the spice a tad.

This would have been the perfect fudge if I had just stuck to the recipe. DON'T USE SOY OR RICE MILK!!! It would not set but became a gritty yet delicous slop. Chocolate and water DO NOT mix!
