About this Cook
I started with Jiffy mixes as a kid and have been cooking and baking ever since. I'll try something over and over until I get it just right. Once I find a recipe I love, I stick with it. Cooking and baking are in my genes...lucky for me, both sides! I would rather watch cooking shows than anything else on TV. I enjoy reading cook books from cover to cover. Julia Child is my hero.
My favorite things to cook
Mediterranean, healthy, anything with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I try to copy dishes we love at our favorite restaurants at home and from our travels.I will try anything once.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional holiday desserts, hey someone needs to keep it alive! Struffoli, crostoli, that Grandma used to make. Baklava, kouriabiedes. Irish soda bread.
My cooking triumphs
Boneless rib eye roast - Seriously intimidated before I had tried it. It's a classic in our home now! Spicy beef noodle soup. Banana bread. Quick and easy marinara. Fruit tart. Fried zucchini blossoms. Granola. Cassoulet...I finally did it!
My cooking tragedies
My first steak - in a microwave. I was 16 and hungry after I got home from school that day. My parents just installed our first microwave. I thought I knew everything. Boy, was I wrong!

Boneless Garlic and Rosemary Rubbed Prime Rib with Red Wine Mushroom Sauce
This method and timing makes the perfect boneless rib eye roast! Medium-rare and a hit with everyone I've ever made this for. Keep the browning timing as it suggests. If you brown it too long, the oven timing needs to be shortened. Low oven temperature helps keep the oven clean too! I leave the meat out to get to room temperature for several hours before cooking - this is key! I tried the sauce once. Not crazy about it.

Megan's Granola
I've make this several times. Much healthier and less expensive than store-bought. Use parchment paper (browns perfectly), not aluminum foil. I add dried cranberries as we want them.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
I make this with out bbq sauce and use it for pork tacos. With bbq sauce for pulled pork sandwiches. Everyone loves it both ways!
