I have been cooking my whole life. I learned from my mom who is a wonderful cook and shared with me her love for cooking nutritious, wholesome, delicious food. I also had a great home-ec teacher in HS and took a 2 hour cooking class with her for my junior and senior year, she made cooking fun and interesting, while teaching us the science behind it. I'm happiest when I'm making delicious food for the people I love.
My favorite things to cook
I love to "cook" and I bake once in a while. I will cook anything. I love to make big dinners with a salad to start, main course, two or three side dishes and bread. I'm much more of a homemade, from scratch cook. I don't do much with "cream of" anything soup or mixes. I like to make healthier more nutrtious foods. I also love to make soups. I'll make a big batch on the weekend, freeze some for later, and leave a big bowl in the fridge for quick, on-the-go lunches or dinners. Casseroles are also some of my faves...I love a wonderful baked casserole, pasta dish, Mexican dish, etc. I am OBSESSED with appetizers, any family function I'm def bringing some apps, oh yeah, and a few side dishes, too!!!! LOL! I subscribe to Food Network Magazine, Bon Appetit, Cuisine At Home, Healthy Cooking, Everyday Food and Food and Wine Magazines. When my new issues come I'm so excited to plan the wonderful things I will make. I also have MANY cookbooks. I'm always cooking something new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love the holidays with my family, my mom and I plan for months what we will make at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. I love cooking with my mom for our family.
