Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
Very good. I used a little more salt, brown sugar instead of white sugar and then added in some Vanilla Extract. I boiled until it was soft crack stage when dropped in water. Will make this again

Molasses Crinkles

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
These were really good. Only complaint is they are not very sweet. Next time I'll add in at least another 1/2 sugar if not even a full 3/4 cup more.

Grandma's Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This is the way my mother taught me to make Vegetable Beef soup while I was living at home years ago. I use frozen vegetables however, simply person choice (Don't like canned vegetables) I add chopped Celery, Frozen Lima Beans, minced garlic, a bay leaf and a can of chicken broth. Also, I add in Elbow Pasta or whatever pasta shape I have on hand, cooked separately and stir in last minute. A couple of dashes of Worcestershire sauce is good too. I put everything in the crock pot on high for a few hours (No Worries About Scorching That Way) just til it's at a good simmer for a while. We serve ours with shredded cheddar cheese and crushed saltine crackers. Mmmmmmmm!

Barbeque Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This was very good, I did however alter the recipe a bit to fit my needs. I left out the onion and the bell pepper. I added in a few shots of Worcestershire sauce as recommended by other reviewers. Also, I made the "stew" part of the casserole in a non stick skillet and then served it piping hot over leftover cornbread squares. Was really tasty! Hubby asked for me to make it again, which really surprised me. He had 2 bowls full for supper and then another container packed for lunch the next day. I will definitely be making this again!

Hearty Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
This is really good...as a soup lol. My casserole never thickened up, even after being in the oven almost a hour. Thankfully it's a very tasty soup with crushed saltines over the top. I added in chopped celery, salt and more cheese, as well as left out the parsley. (I didn't have any) Will make this again for my family, but as a Ham Potato Chowder and not as a casserole dish =)

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
Ohh my goodness, this is sooo good. I followed the directions with a few small changes. I upped the flour to 2 cups, increased the cocoa powder to 1 cup and used fresh coffee for the water. I ended up with 3 layers of cake. I frosted mine with Coconut Pecan Icing and Milk Chocolate Icing. Very good, will definitely make again!!!

Ham Salad on Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
I love this idea! I used a precooked Black Label Ham and sliced it into cubes. I then toss that with fresh broccoli florets, chopped purple onion, mayo, salt and pepper. I served over Pillsbury Freezer Biscuits. Very good. I will definitely make this again =)

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Ohh..my..goddness! I can't believe how good this is! I added an extra bit of butter to the bread, as well as 3 extra slices cubed. I just used Save A Lot Lady Kay white bread from my freezer. Also I took the advice of other reviews and reduced the eggs to 3. I left out the raisins also. I topped this with the Cream Anglais II sauce also listed on this website. Very Very good, I will be making this again and often!

Creme Anglaise II

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Oh my goodness, this is good. I made this for a bread pudding recipe I also found on Allrecipies. I didn't have cream, so I substituted 2% milk with a few tablespoons coffee creamer in it's place. Also, I didn't have any vanilla beans, so I substituted Real Vanilla Extract for that. I would definitely make this again!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
This was really easy to make. I did make a few small changes though, that's why I rated 4 stars and not five because of my own changes. I doubled the raisins for one, also I had to add more flour, as this bread is a very soft dough. After I let it rise and rolled it out, I used 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar and 2 Tbsp. of Cinnamon for the swirl. I took another reviewers suggestion and baked for 30 minutes at 300 degrees, then turned off my oven and let them sit overnight. I think this would make wonderful toast for the morning, french toast or even a very good bread pudding. Tyvm for this recipe =)

Country Pound Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
This is a pretty good pound cake recipe. I wanted a recipe that was tasty but didn't require cake flour, being I don't keep it in my pantry. I didn't have any lemon extract, so I doubled up on the vanilla. I also using another reviewer's suggestion and bumped up the sugar to 3 cups. I poured the mix into 2 loaf pans and toss them in my cold oven turned on the heat to 350 and set the timer. After 1 hour my cakes were burned on the bottom. We cut off the burned part and served the slices with Nutella on top. Was really good overall, But I don't think it would be too tasty by itself. I will make again as Strawberry Shortcake I think =)

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
This bean soup is OK. I followed the recipe, except I prepared in my crock pot. I did soak my beans overnight, using a 1/2 tsp. baking soda as suggested. I thoroughly rinsed the beans and tossed them in the crock pot with all of the ingredients. I went shy on the water, only using 6 cups instead of 8. After all day in my crock pot the beans were nice and tender. However it still tastes a little bland. I try adding more salt and pepper, but nothing. We crushed in saltine crackers, but still a thin soup and bland, no real flavor. I will NOT be fixing this again.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
These cookies were wonderful! I made them with my daughter and we really liked how easy they were to whip up. They were a little chewy, super peanut buttery. Definitely the best peanut butter cookies I've had in a long time. Will make these again for my family!

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
This soup is very good, easy, and inexpensive. I did make 2 small changes though, I used a bay leaf in place of the marjoram, and that was because I've never had marjoram before and wasn't sure if i would like it. I couldn't even find it at the store. Also, I used about half of a precooked Black Label ham, just cubed up in place of the ham bone. We enjoyed this soup with crushed saltine crackers over the top. Will definately make this again for my family!
