Cream Cheese Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Very simple to make. This was my first blueberry cream cheese pie and it was a big hit.

Peach Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
Because of the reviews, and because my peaches were extra juicy, I added a Tbsp of corn starch. Turned out really well. The family loved it!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Used this on fresh sockeye and it was delicious. The only thing I would have done differently is boiled down the sauce with some corn starch as someone else had mentioned. I will probably try the marinade on other meats such as grouse.

Grilled Salmon Skewers

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
Well it's day 4 of salmon for supper and this was by far the best (yes we gorge on salmon during the short sockeye season). In fact I want to go back and rate the others as 4 because they are no where near as good as this one. No overbearing tastes, the salmon really comes through. We served it as the main course with rice and grilled peppers.

Peach-a-Berry Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Excellent! The tartness of the raspberries goes very well with the peaches. I never thought of putting the two together. Although I doubled the amount of flour.

Pumpkin Puree

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Worked fine for me, not sure about the quality of sugar pumpkin I got, but that has nothing to do with the recipe. I'm not sure why people have difficulty with this, it was the easiest method I've ever used. Much easier than chopping and peeling raw pumpkin.

Ham with Pineapple

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
Turned out very nice, and was absolutely beautiful as far as presentation went. I was really disappointed though that the drippings were way too salty to be used as a sauce. I don't know if the soda causes more salt to leach out of the ham than usual, or why that happened.

Miso Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Good recipe but needs some adjusting for my taste. Way too much miso, it overwhelmed everything including the salmon. I would also either add more Sake or ignore it all together, the amount in the recipe isn't noticeable. Also, I have no idea where to find soy-ginger salad dressing. It wasn't at the specialty store, it wasn't at the grocery store, So I just added 1/4 cup soy sauce and 1 tsp fresh ginger. I'll try it again with these changes.

Grandma's Secret Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
For the first time in my life I actually had a pie crust turn out without being a soggy mess. I removed one star because it's rather tasteless. I'm not really sure how to fix that.

Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I only gave 4 stars because I'm not a fan of liquid smoke and therefore used my own glaze. That being said, the slow roasting in water gave me one of the best hams I've made in years! It really reduces the saltiness of the ham and the meat was very tender. So whether or not you prefer to use your own glaze, the roasting method is wonderful.

Becel® Garlic and Rosemary Roasted Root Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
I'm another who used butter. It was okay, I found the time was way too long and my veggies were never "crispy". I used carrots, baby potatoes and pearl onions. It's a good starting point, but I'll have to do some adjusting.

Crumb Topping for Pies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
Not sure if I did something wrong, but I ended up with a large hard top crust that we ended up picking up as a whole and eating with our fingers. Tasted fine, but didn't come out as a crumble.
