I've been married to a woderful man since 1995 and we have three handsome boys. We are originally from northern Mexico, but moved to the USA in 1998 after my husband was hired by an american company. I love to cook and spend a lot of time searching and trying new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Asian, Italian and Mexican dishes. I also love to try new recipes for desserts since I have three kids who really love something sweet after lunch. Pork, beef, chicken or seafood are always in our main entrees.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like to cook "Menudo" with my mom every Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
After a few years trying, I can say I'm quite a good cook now. My husband and kids love my dishes and I also get a lot of compliments from my parents and sister. My major acomplishments in the kitchen are some traditional mexican dishes like "Pastel Azteca" and "Barbacoa". I'm also good with asian and italian dishes. I get rave reviews with desserts like "Chocoflan".
My cooking tragedies
As a single girl, I never cared too much about learning to cook. Later on I got married and I decided it was time to start cooking. One of my first fiascos was when I tried to cook a traditional mexican meatballs soup (or Albóndigas) following my mom's recipe. It called for 2 lbs ground meat, so I grabbed the first package I saw at the supermarket. I did not know that the outcome would be completely different depending on the kind of meat used. The result was disgusting! My husband and I still remember that episode from our early days as a married couple.
