I used to love to cook. When I first got married I was always trying new dishes. Once I had kids, and they were eating regular food, I always cooked a meal for them and something else for my husband and me. A couple of years ago, when my kids were 8 and 4, I decided that they would eat the same meal as my husband and I. That's when they became picky eaters and when I started loosing my love of cooking. Nowadays, my meals are simple, boring and I haven't tried a new dish in ages. I almost dread going into the kitchen now.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make salads, specially the ones with fruit like the strawberry spinach. I love to make pasta. We also eat beef and chicken a lot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Friday we have dinner in the dining room, with candles and the special china, instead of the kitchen table. We have soft music playing, no TV and we talk with the kids about what they did during the week. I try to make a special dish that we all like, and we take our time eating. I usually make more than one course, so we have more time to just sit around and chat between courses.
My cooking triumphs
My daughter's First Communion party. I had 60 people over. I made pork tenderloin, oriental citrus salad and our favorite broccoli salad. I received several requests for the pork recipe. It did turn our very moist and tasty.
My cooking tragedies
I had relatives over for dinner so I made my specialty lasagna. I left to get my little girl from school and the person in charge of the oven forgot to take the lasagnas out and they burned. All I had left was the salad and garlic bread. I was miserable.
