About this Cook
I'm an ISU senior in Family and Consumer Science. I believe cooking allows you to explore your imagination and is also a staple for a happy, healthy life. I live with my boyfriend and our 2 dogs, who do nothing to help in the garden(or kitchen, but that's how I like it).
My favorite things to cook
I love quick and easy cooking, with a healthy, vegetarian twist. My man won't let me touch the grill so I just do the prep work and let him take the credit. Also, living with a carnivor has made me a very creative cook. I'm always trying to stasify us both with new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma always used up my grandpa's produce with awesome pickles, jams, pies, and anything else she could come up with. Now that shes gone we continue the traditions with grandpas produce at my parents house at the end of every season.
My cooking triumphs
I'm still working on perfecting my grandma's pie crust.. it's just never as good
My cooking tragedies
I cannot make rice to save my life.

Jalapeno Salsa
WOW! This is the kind of salsa you sweat while you cook and eat! I took some other reviewers advice and roasted the jalapenos in the oven, as well as the onions and garlic. I doubled the recipe because I had so many peppers from my garden and used a whole bulb of garlic and I think it's great. I'm freezing some in ice cube trays to put in chili once the weather cools down, I know it'll be the perfect addition. Great recipe with tons of uses!

Baked Potato Skins
Great recipe! The spices and the parm cheese really set these apart from regular potato skins. I doubled the amount for poker night and they were gone before the first beer was. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Alabama Fire Crackers
These are awesome! I made them with chili to send to work with my boyfriend during a blizzard and everyone loved them. When his friends came over the next weekend for poker they all asked for more crackers.. sorry boys I already ate them all! Thanks for the great recipe!
