Just Married :)
About this Cook
I am a 24 year old 4th grade teacher. I love my family, friends and my job. I just got married to a wonderful man who I adore. I lived with my parents up until the day we got married so I am excitedly learning how to be a "grown-up" and cook yummy meals for my husband since he works hard all day and I have the whole summer off!!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make appetizer types of foods, dips are my favorite. For meals my specialty is Kraft Mac and Cheese with hot dogs cut up into it - comfort food :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Bearnaise sauce - yummy, Mac and Cheese from scratch,
My cooking triumphs
My biggest success was baking my husband his favorite, black forest cake, from scratch for his birthday. It took me about 4 hours, my kitchen was a disaster but it was the most delicious cake I had ever eaten and most important he loved it!
My cooking tragedies
1000 characters max won't cover this... let's just say I am skilled at knowing the quickest way to get the smoke alarm to stop beeping and clear the smoke out of the house

Tamale Pie II
I did not care for this recipe at all. I know I'm not that good at cooking but I can follow a recipe and when it was done it was like soup and the cornbread part never cooked. Use the modifications other people have posted that had success because following the recipe does not work.

Black Forest Cake II
I have never really baked before, and while this was a hard cake to make it was not impossible and it turned out beautifully. It was a big hit for the birthday and tasted even better every time we had a leftover piece afterwords!! I did change one little thing, instead of soaking the layers in just the cherry liquor, I mixed the liquor with cherry juice from the cans and used that, still had a nice kick when you bit into it. :)
