Sugar Cookie Icing
I made three batches today for Valentine Day cookies and with each batch I learned a new tip. The number one tip that made a huge difference is to be absolutely sure you use a deep narrow bowl if possible. This makes it so much easier for the thick mixture to blend. I also used 3 tsp milk and 3 tsp corn syrup, but like others say, it depends on your preference. And lastly, I made the mistake of leaving the powder sugar and milk sit for over an hour without stirring...big mistake. I think you need to work it immediately or you'll be working with rocks, like I was. Nice consistently and it spreads beautifully.

Drunken Pumpkin Seeds
I was very hesitant to try these as #1, I don't like whiskey, #2, I didn't really want to waste a half cup of whiskey and #3, I didn't want to ruin my first batch of pumpkin seeds. The ingredients sounded intriguing so I tried them and was truly amazed how delicious they are. I didn't have dark brown sugar, and didn't want to try to adlib since the recipe only called for 1 Tablespoon, so I just added maybe 2 teaspoons more light brown sugar but otherwise followed the recipe. I think using dark brown sugar would make them taste better/different but overall, I am very pleased with them especially since I can't really taste the whiskey.

I added 1/2 tsp almond flavoring, but I think I could go as much as 1 tsp. Without the flavoring, I probably wouldn't rate it as high.
