Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2003
I only had chicken on hand and it was wonderful still. I can't wait to try it with the original ingredients.

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This IS the BEST cornbread on the site. I will look no further! I followed the recipe to the t, made no changes and it is perfect ('cept I had to cook it longer, but that's nothing). Everyone said this is the best cornbread I've made from scratch yet (and I've made over 5 already from this site with 5 stars and 200+ ratings). Thank you Tim! P.S. I don't get reviews that only give 4 stars when they themselves say it's, "the best". Beats me.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2003
We boiled them, then instead of baking it, we grilled it and it was fabulous! Very moist and fell off the bone. This is a keeper!

Lemonade

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2003
Mmmm! A bit more tart than "Best Lemonade Ever" (which was pretty sweet), but I thought it was perfect as is.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2003
Wonderful! I made my own breadcrumbs since I was out (bread slices processed and seasoned with various seasonings). I was short on time, so I browned the pieces (after breading them) in olive oil in a skillet. I was short on spaghetti sauce, I didn't want to "waste" any, so I just baked the chicken after searing them in the oven topped with mozzarella for no more than 30 mins, served this over linguine noodles and spaghetti sauce and it was a hit!

Creamy Swiss Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2003
I had doubts about trying this recipe, but I'm glad I did, it's GREAT! I don't know how to describe the flavor, but it was out of this world. I followed the recipe as is (except sub. broth for the wine) and it came out perfect. This makes a sauce that I ladled over noodles with greens on the sides. Wonderful meal. Thank you.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2003
Wonderful! This is the first time the crust of any banana bread turned out edible (meaning it didn't brown too much before the top did!). Everyone loved it and yes, it was moist!

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2003
Can I give this a 10? I must say, these are the BEST cream puffs I've had my entire life! Beats any professional bakery anyday! I am just sorry I only made 1/2. After I finished making these, I placed them on a plate and went around with it to pass to others to try. The first person I went to, my dad, helped himself to one and after trying it, took the plate out of my hand and said he'll take the rest (and he ate ALL of them himself!). Now, this doesn't seem to be that big of a deal, other than the fact that everything I cook, he always has to add fishsauce (we're asian) or just passes it up. Now for him to devour them all, it MUST be good! I can't wait to share these with others! THANK YOU!!!

American Frittata

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2003
This was pretty good! I omitted the salt since ham is salty as is and I don't like to spend too much time on breakfast, so I replaced hash browns for the potatoes (which I crumbled) and added about a tbls of hotsauce and green onions for color.

I didn't make these as gifts, just the recipe. Didn't change a thing, was wonderful.

Rich and Delicious Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2003
I can't rate this recipe because the substitution I made totally ruined the recipe. I was out of shortening and butter, so I thought I could maybe use oil, BIG mistake! It was cooked, but was very dense and clumpy (I actually had it in the oven for 1 hr 30 mins). Smelled wonderful, but tasted otherwise.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This has got to be one of the best chicken recipes on this site and it's super easy! I read past reviews that complained about the sauce not carmelizing, so I added corn starch to the sauce and boiled it down, then poured it over the chicken. I used 1/2 a whole chicken (legs and wings) and I have to say, you NEED to use wings only, it tasted much better than the legs (though the legs weren't bad themselves). Other than that, followed the recipe to the t. Thanks.

Asparagus and Shrimp Stir-fry with Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2003
Whoa! Not only is this easy, it's delicious! To make it super easy, I boiled the shrimp and asparagus together, then added them in the skillet and followed the recipe as is (except doubling the garlic and adding pepper flakes). Top it off with parmesan cheese and it's fabulous! This will be a staple in our house!

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2003
Yummy! I didn't have any beef, so I thought I could sub. sausage for it, BIG mistake! The meatballs came out SALTY!. Anyhow, I did take others advice and added chopped chicken and sub. spinach and used elbow macaroni. It was excellent (even w/o the meatballs)!

Biscotti

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2003
This was so easy and simply delicious! Only changes I made were to add toasted walnuts and anise seeds to the batter, then when it was completed cooked through, I dipped some into chocolate and it was devine! Hint: Watch them closely as they bake, they brown FAST!

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2003
WOW! Never had blackened chicken before, so I didn't know what to expect. It was fantastic! Now I know why they call it that, it looks burnt, but it's not! Anyhow, omit the salt, it's not even needed with all the other seasonings included. I served this over mashed potatoes (with the leftover liquid from the pan since I didn't have any gravy) and corn and it was mmm mmm delicious!

Deep-Fried Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2003
Finally coming around to writing a review for this recipe. Thought it was perfect timing with thanksgiving coming around the corner. Anyhow, I suggest you marinade the turkey overnight, just seasoning the outside won't help much. You need to inject it with flavor. I suggest you mix melted butter and cajun seasoning, then inject it everywhere in the bird, then let it sit overnight in a fridge (in a trashbag). This does create a moist bird. A must try!

Tasty Tuna Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2003
Awesome! Never knew canned tuna could taste so wonderful. I followed the recipe to the t, except I didn't add bell pepper or dill since I didn't have any. Anyhow, I felt 2 tblsps of chili sauce was way too much, but I followed it and it was spicy! Luckily, we love spicy foods and can handle it, but for others, either cut back on the chili sauce (2 tsps?) or you will be dying. Served these on sandwich slices and tomato and it was devine.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
I used this to make banana bread and it was right on target! Didn't even change one thing. I halved the recipe to make one loaf (which was perfect) and it couldn't have been any better. Out of all the banana breads I've made, this one is by far the best yet.
