Lemonade

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2003
Mmmm! A bit more tart than "Best Lemonade Ever" (which was pretty sweet), but I thought it was perfect as is.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2003
We boiled them, then instead of baking it, we grilled it and it was fabulous! Very moist and fell off the bone. This is a keeper!

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This IS the BEST cornbread on the site. I will look no further! I followed the recipe to the t, made no changes and it is perfect ('cept I had to cook it longer, but that's nothing). Everyone said this is the best cornbread I've made from scratch yet (and I've made over 5 already from this site with 5 stars and 200+ ratings). Thank you Tim! P.S. I don't get reviews that only give 4 stars when they themselves say it's, "the best". Beats me.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This has got to be one of the best chicken recipes on this site and it's super easy! I read past reviews that complained about the sauce not carmelizing, so I added corn starch to the sauce and boiled it down, then poured it over the chicken. I used 1/2 a whole chicken (legs and wings) and I have to say, you NEED to use wings only, it tasted much better than the legs (though the legs weren't bad themselves). Other than that, followed the recipe to the t. Thanks.

I didn't get a chance to taste this, but my sister did and she said it was good, that it, "tasted like taco".

Spinach and Potato Frittata

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This was too plain, it needs some zip to it. I added tobasco sauce and it needs more than that to help it. Won't be making again.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
Sorry, I thought it was me the first time when I made it because it was really dense and wouldn't cook through (the middle was still uncook even after baking it an extra 30 mins). I actually made this recipe 3 times and it all turned out the same, so I know it's not me, because I know how to cook. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
The marinade smelled wonderful and the shrimp itself would've been out of this world had it not been so salty! I followed the recipe exactly, made no changes whatsoever and it was REALLY salty! I'll make this again, but I'll omit the salt.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2003
Wow, tasted wonderful and refreshing! Followed the recipe to the t, made no changes. It was a tad bit sweet, but that could be fixed easily. Thank you Jo! UPDATE: I tried using this recipe to make raspberry lemonade by using fresh raspberries. Anyhow, lets just say, it tasted nothing like the ones you find at the fine restaurants...I'll keep on experimenting.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2003
Nothing spectacular here. I actually thought chicken breast with bone in and skin on would've helped. I followed the recipe to the letter and tried adding more "oomph" with pepper flakes, but it was just average at best. I seared the chicken with skin on in the garlic oil, then dredged the breading on the chicken (which wouldn't stick, so I drizzled the rest of the oil onto the chicken, that made the breading stay). Served this with fettucine alfredo (which was excellent). Nice meal, but this chicken wasn't worth it (and it was easy to say the least).

Chicken Savoy

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2003
Outstanding! Who would've thought a recipe so simple can taste so wonderful? I made my own stock, added more garlic and red pepper flakes and blended them. Let the chicken marinade in the fridge for 6 hrs and baked it at 400 degrees for 45 mins, served it over rice with veggies; got rave reviews! The vinegar was not even needed, I actually thought it made it taste worse. Thanks for sharing!

Cheddar Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2003
Yummy! I followed the recipe exactly except that I added chopped green onions and a few more dashs of hot sauce and milk instead of evap milk and I made my own homemade crust. Everyone ate the filling and left behind the crust (although I thought the crust tasted fine). Perfect served with hot sauce on the side!

Bacon Quiche Tarts

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2003
I didn't follow this recipe, but I used the idea (of the muffin cups) with another recipe (cheddar quiche) and made my own pie crust and it turned out wonderful. Thanks for the idea, I'll be serving this for next our next brunch with guest!

Best Ever Pie Crust

This pie crust was good and easy, although I've made better (basic pie crust on this site). I used this to make quiche and it turned out pretty well.

Easy to Remember Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2003
Sorry, these just did not come out right and this is the first time pie crust ever failed on me (and I've made plenty)! It was easy to roll out, but when I tried to prebake the piecrust, it totally collasped on me (ruffle edges I made) while baking! It was unsavagable, so I had to trash it. I'm only giving it a 2 because I didn't taste it (benefit of doubt).

Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2003
These are wonderful and taste much better than the store bought ones, although it did take quite some prep time. I added in chopped green onions, garlic/onion powder, blk pepper and diced jalepenos (for a kick), left out the white cheese since I didn't have any on hand. Served these with hot sauce, they were gone in minutes!

Shrimp and Asparagus

Amazing! Easy and delish. I reduced the butter, increased the lemon, left out the mushrooms and added pepper flakes. Great dish for those busy work nights! Thanks.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2003
This was average. Some complained it was sweet and others that it was too "mustardy", I thought it balanced each other nicely though. Anyhow, I substituted chicken broth for the butter since I felt it was unnecessary and to cut back on fat and I added cubed potatoes and carrots to the casserole while it was baking (which was covered). I wouldn't make this again though.

Tiny Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
I made these for a babyshower and they were a HUGE hit with everyone alike, they were all gone and I DOUBLED the batch too. I followed the recipe exactly, except that I added chopped broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and green onions. I made it the night before and froze them, the baked them the day of and it was perfect.

Aunt Blanche's Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2003
The texture on these muffins resembled those on cornbread! These were just average, nothing to write home about. Note: blueberries are in season right now, so I suggest you stock up (while they're cheap) and just freeze them, that way, you can have fresh blueberry muffins year around.
