Apple Orchard Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2005
Excellent punch! We didn't change a thing. Doubled the recipe for a group of 15 and it was gone in no time. Everyone went for more than seconds. Plan on making it for the next party. Thanks

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2004
Yummy dressing! I also used the dressing to marinade the chicken and bake them. I reduced the sugar and left out the green onions and sesame seed and instead added cilantro.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2004
I thought this was okay, my sisters liked it though, although they said it tasted great when you first take a bite, but the excitement dies off as you continue eating it. I agree with past reviews, it was bland. I had to add cumin and top it off with sour cream, hot sauce, and cilantro to help it. I suggest to put the tortilla chips after you spoon the soup in the bowls, because it got soggy really quick and we had to keep adding more chips. As easy as it was, I doubt I'd make it again.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
Very good, I halved the recipe and made two toast with just regular sandwich breads. I changed it a bit by adding a dash of banana extract to give it a banana flavor, it was wonderful.

Mexican Cream Cheese Rollups

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
These were pretty good, although my mom loved them. I did however changed it up by omitting the green olives for jalepeno peppers and added cilantro. I made these for a test run, but I felt these weren't good enough to be one of the platters at my party.

This was really delicious, just a little salty. I served these with rice.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies II

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2004
Good recipe, but it spreads out too much, so it was literally flat and I needed to cook it longer than suggested. I think you may have to reduce the butter and shortening.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2004
I thought this was pretty good, not fantastic though. I think it was the angel cake, maybe had it been another cake it would've been great. It was easy to make, but why don't I see any complaints about the prep time (LOTS of chopping!). I'd try the chocolate trifles on this site, they look scrumptous!

Orange Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2004
This didn't last a day at our house! I made 1/2 the cake and I ate it all myself! I wished I made more. I too followed past reviews, and omitted the lemon extract and used vanilla. I also used freshly squeezed oj and had no veg. oil (I know!) and used melted veg. shortening instead. I didn't make the frosting, so I just had it plain and it was delicious! (Note: I tasted the cake right out of the oven and thought it was gross and when I tasted it later in the day when it was cooled, it was fantastic!) Thanks!

Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2004
I have to agree with a past reviewer, this was too "spicy!" If it weren't for that, it would've been fine. I did reduce the sugar to 1 cup ( 1/2 white and brown) and cooked the apples over the stove top with the spices and brown sugar and then processed them. I also reduced the butter to 1/2 cup and used 1/2 cup of apple sauce and used 4 small apples and 1/2 cup of more apple sauce. I then threw everything in the processor and let it do it's thing. Actually cooked in just 45 mins.

Arroz con Pollo II

Reviewed: May 10, 2004
I followed past reviews and left out the tomato and instead of beer, used chix stock. Anyhow, this was mediocre at best. My sister, who usually isn't hard please said, "Eww, the rice tastes FUNKY!". Chicken was plain, rice was whatever, smelled nice, tasted otherwise. And to think I wasted saffron on this dish!

Marinated Rosemary Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2004
This was ok, we actually all thought it was too "rosemary". I saved the leftovers and used it on a caesar salad, it tasted better.

Grilled Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2004
I didn't grill it, I just placed it in the broiler. Tasted wonderful, but the kids still won't eat the asparagus.

Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2004
This was good, but it was also salty. I didn't marinade it whatsoever, I just threw it in the oven and it flavored the chicken nicely (just make sure you seperate the skin from the meat so it marinates it while cooking). Anyhow, good recipe, just use low sodium soy.

Indian Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2004
Made this for dinner, it was good, but not excellent. Didn't have cardommon, but I doubt that would've made a difference. As a matter of fact, with all the fancy spices, it still tasted like curry to me, I don't think there would be much a difference in flavor if you just used curry alone. Anyhow, I used 1/2 1/2 tomato sauce/h2o and added peas and diced potatoes. Served with rice and bread and it was good, also good by itself. Can't really imagine this tasting that good w/o the tots and peas.

Easy Baked Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2004
These are good and exactly the same as the sweet and sour drummettes on this site, I mean, EXACTLY, only difference is that this recipe has margarine and msg, which I find you don't need, because when you eat it, you won't be able to tell you had butter in the oil or msg. Good recipe, served this with rice and asparagus (hey, it's asparagus season, lol).

Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2004
Even though there was honey in it, it was still very spicy. I didn't grill it, I baked it and these were ok. I served these with fries and asparagus for dinner. Most complained it was too spicy.

Honey Lime Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2004
This chicken recipe is so good and different. You can definitely taste the lime, but it's not something bad. I did seasoned the flour with powdered ginger and blk pepper. I also added 3 cloves of garlic and some red onions which I blended with the sauce and it was excellent. I wanted the chicken to be carmelized, so after coating the chicken w/ the sauce, I baked it for about 30 mins and it was excellent served with rice and a salad on the side.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2004
I don't think there was anything spectacular about this dish other than the fact that it brought out the flavors of the asparagus. Just tasted like asparagus, lol, but it was good.
