Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
I made these for the boys birthday party and everyone claimed it was the best dish. I used egg roll wrappers instead of tortillas. I make asian egg rolls all the time, so when wrapping these egg rolls, I wrapped them tightly too. However, you shouldn't do that because the filling for this recipe contains more juice from the vegetables. If you do, it'll tear the wrappers. Finally, for the dip, I just combined sour cream with salsa topped off with sliced green onions.

Million Dollar Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I decided to make this for my boyfriend's birthday since he is not a fan of sweets and this cake hit the spot. He declared it the best cake in the world. I followed the recipe exactly except for the frosting, which I blended in a food processor to smooth out the chunks. Wonderful cake as is and I think I'll play around with it to get different variations.

Chocolate Earthquake Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I first tried this recipe when my coworker brought it in for work. It was delicious, so I made it for my dad's bday. However, before attempting to make it, I noticed that all the cakes looked ugly...like an earthquake had hit it, and the cake my coworker made had the cheesecake filling in the middle (like the picture posted by allrecipes). Therefore, when I poured the cake batter in the pan, I reserved 1/2 of it. Add the cheesecake filling by spoonfuls, cafefully spreading it to make a nice layer, and finishing it off with the leftover cake batter. It cooked longer than stated, but turned out delish while looking beautiful.

Carrie's Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
This was definitely not for us. I agree with several past reviewers, very sour and "briney". I felt the marinated artichokes killed the recipe and you could do w/o the sundried tomatoes too. I think this would've been a 5 star recipe with just some diced tomatoes in a chicken broth sauce, artichokes that are not marinated, asparagus and double the garlic. Top it off with lots of cheese and some cilantro and serve with some grilled chicken on the side.

Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 22, 2005
These were good, better than most of the chocolate chip recipes on this site, but definitely not the best I've had. I will be still searching for "that" recipe.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 22, 2005
I didn't follow the recipe after reading all the complaints, so I used gourmetmommys directions. I've never had lemon bars, so I have no idea how the texture is supposed to turn out, but if it's supposed to be somewhat gooey and not entirely solid, then that's how mine turned out. I also read complaints about not enough crust, so I made a 1/3 more and it was just right. Overall, it was definitely easy, tasted alright, but I'm not going to make it again.

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: May 22, 2005
This was pretty good, doesn't compare to the restaurants though. However, it's great when you don't have any on hand and very easy to make. I also felt the tartar needed something more, so I too added extra relish and a dash of dill to give it more "oomph".

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
I thought this was ok, it's one of those dense breads. I prefer the maine pumpkin bread to this, much fluffier.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
These were pretty good, but I will have to agree with a past reviewer that these are only good when it's fresh because they do turn into "hockey pucks" the next day or better yet, within a few hours. I don't think I will make these again.

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
Delicious! I only made 1/2 the batch and it only made 12 cookies...unless you plan on making bite size cookies, then they will only make about 1/2 of what is stated. Anyhow, I used all butter since I had no shortening on hand and I doubled the peanut butter and added a bit more flour. I found that the cookies tasted much better when I added some crush roasted peanuts to the batter, better flavor and nice texture. Will be making again, THANKS!

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
This recipe was ok, maybe it's because of the coffee I used. Either way, I doubt I'd make it again, I'll just stick to buying their cookies from the store.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2005
This was pretty good, but I suggest on using different spices because the spice overwhelmed the sauce and that's what turned it off for some of my guest. Also, if you use no boil lasagna, you will need to boil them because I didn't boil it the first time and the noodles did not cook at all because it wasn't able to absorb the sauce (yes, I threw away the first batch and had to make a new one).

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2005
We've never had ziti before and after trying this, doubt we'd have it again. If this is hall of famer material for ziti, then I'm sure we'd hate to try the others. I made two versions, one I stuck to the recipe and the other, I added mushrooms and spinach and everyone agreed the ziti with the veggies tasted much better. Not trying again, nothing special.

Linguine with Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2005
This was absolutely delicious! Very similar to another recipe on this site, but much better by far. I added red pepper flakes and garlic to the oil/butter mixture, then followed the recipe to the t, except I used cilantro and fresh basil. It was sooooo good and easy too! Thanks a lot, will be making again.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2005
I was expecting this to be out of this world from all the rave reviews, which it wasn't, but still good enough. I did follow others past reviews and added an extra can of diced tomatoes and doubled up on the seasonings. However, DO NOT add the sugar. I think that's why it tasted "funky". Even people who ate it could taste it. With all the prep and wait, I was expecting something more. I actually prefer Bob's Awesome Lasagna on this site to this one, which is far easier and much tastier. Won't be making again.

Cavatelli and Broccoli

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
Wonderful dish! I too infused the oil with the pepper flakes and garlic. I also threw in onions, mushrooms and didn't blanch the broccoli, I just threw it in the garlic oil and after the pasta was done, tossed it in the pan and topped it off with parm. cheese. I paired this dish with the rotisserie chicken recipe on this site and it was just perfect since the balance of flavors (light+salty) was just right.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2005
Good stuff! I too reduced the milk (3/4cup), added mushrooms, carrots and used 1/2 mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cheddar, threw in a dash of hot sauce and it was delicious! Tasted like the veggie lasagna from stouffers. Thanks a lot!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2005
I thought this was okay, didn't see what all the rave was about. I served this at our new years party and everyone thought it was average, although I did have one guest who loved it. Pretty salad though. I only omitted the poppy seeds since I had none, doubt that would've made a difference.

Cajun Appetizer Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2005
These are fantastic! I only added in some oregano, basil and pepper flakes for more flavor and served these as an appetizer at our new years party and it was gone in no time.
