Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
This was okay, not great. I think I overcooked it. Too much cheese, too; I would use less next time.

Breakfast Casserole II

This was great! Added some peppers and onion. Just needs a little more spice, maybe Tony's or something.

Great Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2005
This didn't turn out really great. Maybe I sliced the bread too thin... put too much of the mixture on both sides maybe? Don't know but it was too strong of a garlic flavor, and had a greasy consistency. Maybe next time I will slice the bread thicker, use less garlic and only put mixture on one side of the bread... also, my butter was unsalted and this really needed more flavor (other than the garlic) so I added a bit of salt...

Chicken Danielle

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
This was SOOO awesome!! I sprinkled the chicken with garlic salt before cooking, and added a bit more of each of the seasonings. Served with homemade sweet white bread, broccoli and salad for Father's Day. I love the taste of the Marsala, and the sauce was so velvety and smooth. Thanks!!

Excellent! I added a bit more beef broth and used green and red peppers. Yummy! And easy!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2005
Wonderful! Kids loved it. I did add sauce before the cheese when I did the layers. I halved it - put some in a smaller casserole dish for us, froze the rest for later. Only thing I might change would be to make a bit more sauce.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
My kids loved this, especially with the cheddar, sour cream and chips on top! I used chicken broth but think I'd use less next time because we like a thicker, more chili-like consistency. I also will use only 1 can of the tomatoes w/chiles (maybe just sub regular diced tomatoes alone for the other can) as it was a bit too spicy for us.

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
This was wonderful!!! I made it for a New Year's Eve party and it was GONE by the time the night was over! I used less than 1 pound ground beef, 16 oz of sour cream, Dean's brand guacamole dip, 1 cup fresh chopped tomatoes, enough green onions to make a whole layer. I used 3/4 pkg taco seasoning with 1/4 cup water in the ground beef; the the rest of the taco seasoning I mixed with the sour cream. I heated it just enough to make it a little warmer than room temp and begin to melt the cheese. It was great with fritos and corn chips!! My dish is a bit smaller than 9x13.

Best Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2004
This was good when I was looking for something different. I used cheese-filled tortellini instead of fettuccini. The only thing was that it took time to cut up everything and throw it in.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2004
This was really good! I used two pounds of the cheese, two 16 oz bags of frozen broccoli (next time I'll use more). I followed the directions of the previous poster who used a crockpot. I cooked mine for 4 hours and the broccoli was a bit mushy, so maybe next time just three hours... otherwise, yummy! Thanks!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2004
These were awesome!! Husband LOVED them! I need to double the recipe next time!!! The key is to cut them very thick. I used whole milk. Butter-flavored shortening or even lard works great. You can also spray the tops with butter-flavored cooking spray before baking - gives 'em a little extra butter flavor.

Challah I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2004
This was soo delicious! Very soft and sweet (I added a little extra honey, but probably didn't need to!) I put poppy seeds on one 'braid' and cinnamon/sugar on the other. I think we liked just the plain poppy seeds best. Next time I might put some water in the bottom of the oven for steam and a crunchier crust. Also, I probably should make my dough more stiff (add more flour) so it doesn't 'spread' so much and so that the 'braids' will be more defined when done. Oh, and I just brushed with egg white, not the whole egg mixture. It seems that this dough could easily be used for sweet dinner rolls, buns, a variety of different sweet breads for different occasions.... Thanks so much for the great recipe!!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2003
These were good, but better the next day. I added some liquid smoke. I think I would have liked a bit more of a 'barbeque'-type flavor, but otherwise these were great.

Holiday Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2003
I changed this a lot to suit our tastes, but the results were excellent! Double if you are making for a large group. We had 14 people and barely had enough dressing. I left out the sausage, celery and bell pepper. I added chopped hardboiled eggs instead of mixing them in. Since we like our dressing sweet, I used two packages worth of Jiffy cornbread and just under 1/2 loaf of store-bought french bread. Everyone loved this! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2003
This was wonderful! Everyone at our gathering raved. I couldn't easily get salami, so I used summer sausage. Couldn't find Asiago, so I used Mozzerella. Used grape tomatoes, halved, and a little less oregano than called for. I doubled the dressing, but didn't end up using it all anyway. I poured some of the dressing on, refrigerated for a couple of hours (to soak up the flavor) pulled it out, added a little more dressing, and served. I had run out of parsley, but this was still wonderful. Next time I might add some red onion. Great hearty Italian taste - thanks!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2003
Awesome! Very fluffy, not like what I'm used to in a pumpkin pie. Everyone scarfed it down.... even the husband, who rarely eats sweets. I ended up using two 9-inch deep-dish pie pans, so I actually doubled the topping ingredients. Thanks so much!!

Wild Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2003
This was good! I used two 6 oz boxes of uncle Ben's wild rice (without the seasonings) and Jimmy Dean country-mild sausage, added some Tony's, left out the celery, chopped up the mushrooms a bit more. The sliced almonds on top gave it a nice look, and went well with the flavor of the wild rice, I thought.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2003
This was awesome!! I sprinkled garlic powder and salt on every layer of potatoes, sauteed the onions with garlic before adding them, and added more cheese than was called for. I sprinkled cheese on top, cooked, then uncovered and broiled for the last 5-10 minutes to brown a bit on top. Yummy!
