So what’s the big deal about Allrecipes.com?  Hmm. Gonna take a while to explain it I guess so I had better start from the beginning..It was sometime in 1999 that I was online, looking for recipes of some kind. What exactly I was looking for I can’t remember. That was thirteen years ago and my… MORE

About this Cook
I cook because I love to create. I find it to be very soothing and rewarding. My mother was my greatest influence, but because of my love of experimentation I think I am a better cook than she is now. :)
My favorite things to cook
Anything healthy. I love to try new recipes and love the challenge of altering high caloriefat recipes to something more healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Swedish Christmas cookies. These were baked by my mother and now by me.
My cooking triumphs
I have had few failures when cooking. Every new recipe is a triumph when it turns our terrific.
My cooking tragedies
The first cake I made by myself was a bit of a disaster. I think I was 11 or 12. I didn't let it cool in the pans after baking and frosted it while it was still warm. Needless to say, it sort of fell apart. Refusing to let that stop me, I held the cake together with half a box of toothpicks. My father ate half the cake.. he was a good Dad. Didn't complain once about the toothpicks. :)

Rose Water Turkish Delight
The flavor was very nice and it was easy to cook, but this stuck.. terribly. I sprayed with cooking spray as directed and used foil but this method was a failure. It is possible I have defective cooking spray or defective foil..I couldn't get the foil peeled away with out it flaking off in teeny tiny pieces... if at all. The few bites I was able to salvage tasted very good though. If I ever try this again, I will use my Silpat mat to line the pan

Caribbean Potato Curry
This was tasty. For me I would have preferred more veggies, less potato.. next time.

Cottage Cheese Croquettes
These were tasty. I am not a gravy person so I topped these with a little mozzarella and had some spiced tomato sauce on the side
