Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
I made this as written (except I didn't have poppy seeds) and found it to be quite yummy, I personally like sweet cole slaw but I found the proportions to be slightly off, as I had to end up straining it since there seemed to be way too much dressing for the amount of cole slaw mix

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
Oh this was soooo delicious! Marinated in ziplock overnight (I only kind of measured out the ingredients, just squirted the mustard right into the bag, etc though I did measure the syrup). flipped a few times in fridge, baked 375F 45 min in a loaf pan flipped 2-3 times whille cooking, this was soooo juicy, a definite winner

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
This is delicious!!!! I've made it two times so far and will use this as my go-to recipe from now on. I grew up having Ritz/butter on top of casseroles so that's how I do it now

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

This is absolutely wonderful, I've made it a number of times. My boyfriend loves when I say "I'm making 'awesome broccoli' tonight!!" and he knows exactly what recipe I'm referring to :)

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2011
Wow! Used one 7lb chicken and kept seasonings the same, with half salt. After a few hours I had little to no drippings so I poured some chicken broth over the top (1/2 cup maybe?) and basted frequently which was fun since I've never roasted a chicken before, the basting really sucked up the delicious flavors so I added it to packaged gravy mix, but next time I will definitely make a gravy from scratch. *** I should add that along with all the fixings I was able to feed 12 people, but had only a little bit leftover

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
YUM! I couldn't find plain bread cubes so I bought some day old ciabatta bread off the discount bakery rack for less than $2 and cut it into cubes and dried it out at 300F for 10-20 min (I looked online how to make bread cubes) I was very impressed! I threw in some dried cranberries with the vegetables too, I'm ready for fall!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
This needs no alterations! this was so delicious...I did do some oil and some applesauce, but I do that with most baking recipes. It took me about 9 medium carrots to get the 3 cups. Seriously, try to follow the recipes first before changing it if you have not tried this yet. So moist and delicious- took exactly 40 min in a 9x13 metal pan

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
I was not let down by this recipe at all. It doesn't actually say that there should be a sauce in the end, so cook it as directed and don't try to use the watery leftovers for sauce if you don't want to! The pork was perfect and I had some cranberry chutney with it. I added potatoes and carrots and did not like them at all, I will not do that next time.

Cappuccino in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Easy to make! I made these as gifts and ended up having one extra for me. I don't know what cappuccino should taste like but I wasn't thrilled by this alone. Instead I found that adding a spoon or less of it to coffee gave it such a great flavor! Yum!!

Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Delicious! I made this exactly as written (well, I forgot to add pepper) and marinated almost an hour, then cooked the meat in a wok, added cooked lo mein noodles, snap peas, mushrooms, carrots, more garlic, ginger, scallions, and the rest of the bulgogi marinade and 1:1 water/cornstarch to thicken a bit and a Tbl of hoisin sauce- a delightful beef lo mein!!!

Fava Bean Breakfast Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
very yummy- I had to make changes due to what ingredients I had on hand, I bought a can of fava beans to someday make this recipe but did not have everything else. I used garlic powder and Goya Sofrito in place of the tomato and blended cooked mixture in the food processor and served with freshly hard boiled eggs and warm naan, yummy and healthy! I have never eaten or seen a fava bean so blending it to look like refried beans was a little comforting :)

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
Loved it, didn't change a thing! Using the serving size given, I got away with making 24 cupcakes more than 3/4 full just so I could get away with cooking them all at once not 2 batches, only had a little batter leftover. 15 minutes was perfect at 350F, they were not huge as I feared. I used a new trick I learned on Food Network, pour batter into a zip-lock and cut a tiny hole in the corner to squeeze it out into the cupcake pans, very easy!

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
I can't agree more with the description, I used all of the ingredients but really didn't measure anything out (except the cornstarch/water) and it came out wonderfully when using chicken thighs. I am eating it now as leftover lunch from last night's dinner and it was great then, and great now, seems spicier today, yum!!

Apple Turnovers

Wonderful recipe, I wish it could've made more but next time I'll have 2 packages of puff pastry. I had a lot of extra filling and mostly just ate it right out of the bowl it was so delicious. This filling could be used in so many ways and it was so easy

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
Wonderful recipe!! I used the same "healthy" substitutes most people used, it was moist and still very flavorful. Cooked 2 loaves both in 9x5 pans and it was perfect, took around 60-65 minutes to bake

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
I was so impressed with this recipe, and with how well it came out, I hardly changed the recipe: I added all the water and the whole bottle of beer- (I would never dump beer and since it was 6 am I didn't drink it either...well maybe if it was a saturday...) the brisket did not come with the spice packet so I added ground pepper, 2 garlic cloves and some allspice. It looked and tasted beautiful- awesome!!!! UPDATE: The leftover liquid works well as a "beef broth," I froze it until I needed it and used it in a mushroom barley soup- delicious once watered down if too salty!! Just need to strain it a little!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
So great!! I altered the 2 cans of soup as well and opted for 1 can diced tomatoes and one bottle of Heinz chili sauce and it worked perfectly! I kept everything else the same but at the end I added frozen okra for some color since I LOVE okra and it was cooked and warm within minutes. I did not measure out the spices just put in some of all. What a wonderful recipe, thanks Laura!!

Sunday Gumbo

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
I loved this recipe! Of course... I'm from New England and I have never had Gumbo but I was very happy because I have always LOVED Okra; it added a nice thickness to the meal. If I was to change anything I would have pre-cooked the rice in my rice cooker to speed up the recipe a bit, I think the rice took too long to cook but probably because I stirred it a few times. I also added some creole seasoning but pretty much stuck to the recipe. Thank you very much- an easy introductory recipe!
