Pioneer Cut Dumplings from the 1800's

This is the almost same recipe I have used all my life. It is an Amish recipe and my family begs for it. Living in Western, NY where it is so cold and snowy, it is on our menu a LOT. Sometimes I use milk and sometimes just water.....regardless...yum! Have to use Lactose free milk, so if I am out or it is not on my budget for the week.....water it is! Try it!

Italian Chicken Skillet

Refreshing Lentil Salad

I had guests who like to eat pretty much meatless so I made this. It was just fantastic. I have not used lentils before and am so glad I finally tried them. Delicious! THIS is going to be a regular for us now. Healthy and great tasting! I would not change a thing and I followed the directions except did add more liquid. Also, after we ate, I realized that I forgot the eggs. Oh well, was great anyway!

Sweet Lamb Curry

Have made it twice and for a group of friends last night and it was a total hit! I almost burned it....actually did a little but it tasted great. A good one to make for company...one pot meal. I used chicken thighs for could not afford the lamb, but it was delicious indeed. Outside of changing to chicken, I kept to the recipe. We love Indian food and go constantly to a wonderful place. I actually found this recipe on their site, and when I hit the picture it took me to this site...which is my favorite and to this recipe. Ate there a few days ago and thanked them for sending me to this site and recipe! My husband loved it!!

Brown Rice

Found this recipe on Alton Brown's TV show a long time ago for brown rice, and have used it ever since. Would never use brown rice before since any other method left us less than satisfied. Every time I have served it since, I get rave reviews. We use it often and change it up many ways. For years I have keep copies of it for when I serve guests they always rave over it and demand the recipe, so I keep one handy. Even serving it plain is delish! Bake brown rice for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Bread Machine Bagels

My first time and fantastic outcome!! At the last kneading and rising in machine I added cinnamon and raisins that I soaked in some water. I allowed to rise half and hour. Just perfect and my hubby and I ate too much! I spread cream cheese on mine. I froze them and thawed them in the microwave for a minute and toasted them. PERFECT!! And so, so easy. And good for you with no preservatives.

French Bread

Just fantastic. It was perfect and I followed the recipe to the letter but I did follow what one person said and added some olive oil, and kept throwing ice on bottom of oven. I could not believe such delicious results. This is one I will do constantly!

Walnut Raisin Scones

Fantastic recipe. Never made scones before so was excited to try them. This recipe with the buttermilk was just outstanding, and surely did not disappoint! We will make this again and again for sure! Followed it exactly but had to add a little extra buttermilk to make it right consistency.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Outstanding! It was wonderful, and for a change, a desert that is not overly sweet, yet packed with flavor! Now I wish I had bought more cranberries and froze them over the holidays, just for this gem. My husband was very impressed! Wouldn't change a thing.

I have made this winner many times recently, and it never fails to turn our perfect! And it freezes so well. I try to always keep one or two in freezer for company who may drop by. Gets even better the next day! I wouldn't change a thing! Perfect as is.
