My favorite family cooking traditions
Although lots of recipes have been lost over the years, I'm working on recreating the traditional Mennonite recipes I remember my nana making from my childhood. Roll kuchen and watermelon will always remain one of my favourite meals.

Chicken Seasoning Blend
This spice rub has a lovely flavour, but even with 1/3 the salt is way too salty on baked chicken breast! Cut the salt to 1/4 tsp and it would be perfect!

Amish White Bread
Just like the bread I remember making with my grandmother as a child. Absolutely delicious and super easy to make! I didn't follow the recipe exactly; I dumped in a whole package of instant rise yeast instead of measuring (was only making one loaf and didn't want a little left over) and I added the flour a half cup at a time until the consistency was right as I kneaded it, I think I only used 2.5 cups. Amazing recipe and will definitely be making again!

Chocolate Cupcakes
These were perfect! They have a fabulous dark chocolate taste and were super moist, even after spending the night uncovered in the fridge. The only change I made to the recipe was I used closer to 2-3 tsp of vanilla, but I at least double the vanilla in everything! Will definitely be making again! Pair perfectly with peanut butter frosting!
