Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
Everyone loved these beans. It calls for 3/4 cup ketchup and instead used 1/2 ketchup and 1/2 bbq sauce. Added more bacon but otherwise didn't change a thing. Awesome, will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks for sharing!

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
I make this same identical dish but instead of mushrooms I use new potato's. I spray a baking dish with pam slice the new potatoes on bottom, onions sliced into rings on top of that. Brown the chops in a skillet and place on top, then add the 2 cans of soup on top of that. Cook as directed above. This is a real meal in one dish. Glad I found this one though as the mushrooms will be a great addition for next time. Thanks for sharing

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
My Mom and I make this salad all of the time. We do it as directed but leave out the sesame seeds and sometimes the paprika. We have used plain white vinegar instead of the wine vinegar. Last time we made it with the white wine vinegar and I did not like it as well. Just a preference, was to winey or tangy with it so we prefer the regular white. Love this salad!! Even kids like it! Great way to get them to eat spinach.

Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
This looked good but after the burgers were ready I'm thinking ok do I just use mayo? mustard? how to dress this. My solution was to mix 2 parts mayo to 1 part of the adobo sauce. Topped with lettuce and tomato and raw onion and bam we have kicked it up a noche!

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
This roast is awesome and so tender with rich gravy. I did not have beef gravy mix but had a little over half a packet of au jus. I also added lipton onion soup mix and the ranch and italian as suggested in the recipe. I used 2 cups of water to desolve the dry mixes in. I salt and peppered the roast then put in a ziploc and then added the flour, shake and then pound the flour in thru the plastic bag...worked great and clean up was easy. I have never put a roast in the crock pot without browning first and almost did it but decided to go ahead and put it in. There is no need for that browning step, its perfect without it. The color was just right. I used the onions but also put potatos in, then the roast and the carrots all around. Put it on before I went to bed. When I got up the smell coming out of the kitchen was awesome. I just finished eating this masterpiece. Yummm. This will be my standard pot roast recipe. Will be trying this with other cuts of meat as well. Thanks keylimeone for sharting this recipe!

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
I love this coleslaw!! Was looking for something like this (no mayo) and decided to try. So glad I did, I can see this being a hit at large gatherings. Thanks for the recipe. (i didn't change anything). Oh and by the way as another reviewer said, don't expect to be good right after making. I made this last night and did not even taste until 24 hrs later. Bet its even going to be better tomorrow.

Simple Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
Grandpa and me had the 2 yr old grandaughter today. This kid will not eat anything but green peas, chicken nuggets, and apple juice. She is even more picky than our oldest daughter (her mother) and thats really saying something. I have tried giving her Manwich, which is our go to sloppy joe and she will not eat it. She has just devoured 2 halves of bread filled with this AWESOME sloppy joe recipe. I did not change a thing, went exactly by the ingredients and directions. Gramps and I both thought this was the Bomb and much better than the canned stuff. Goodbye cans, hello Simple Sloppy Joes...Thank you Ona Allen for adding another food to our 2 yr olds diet. I plan on making this with turkey next time and bet it will be just as good.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2012
This is the World's Best Lasagna. The only thing I changed is to leave the parsley out of the ricotta (hiding it from my picky eaters). I did put it in the sauce. Also soaking the noodles in hot tap water was a wonderful time saving tip (thanks to whoever suggested that). Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. Awesome flavor! Thanks for the recipe. (oh and DO NOT leave out the fennel seeds, you will be glad you didn't)

Pork Tenderloin with Dijon Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2012
This is "Slap yo Mama" good. I did not change anything. I used shallots as instructed (not green onions as some reviewers did). I used a good dry Marsala (Floria). The men raved about it. I made a loaf of beerbread and the sauce was literally gone in minutes. I served with bacon wrapped whole green beans seasoned with lemon/pepper, a nice complement to the pork. Its a keeper. Thank you Thank you!!

Hottie you are spot on. Add a 12 oz can of sprite or 7-up. I have been making these for quite some time and never heard of adding water. Definitely use Corona Extra.

Strawberries and Cream Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Was really excited to see this recipe. I can strawberry perserves (jam) every year w/big chunks of strawberries. Had everything to make including the preserves from last yr I needed to use because strawberry season is upon us...but no fresh strawberries..however I had fresh rasberries. Only change I made was to use 1 cup of fresh rasberries in place of the strawberry's and I added 1 cup of sugar to offset the tartness of the rasberries.....never ever have I made bread pudding without sauce but this one needed nary a thing...i will make this again...can't wait till the Louisiana strawberries are ready!!! This was "Berry" Good!!!

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce III

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This pudding recipe is almost identical to my own so I stuck with it, however the sauce recipe was new to me...its a keeper! I will make it with whiskey next time but did not have any, instead used butterscotch schnapps. The sauce is very easy to make but like one other reviewer I let it bubble before removing it from the heat, then added the liquor. Can't wait to try it with the whiskey. Thanks for a great recipe!
