Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
Loved this! Very tasty and simple. I couldnt find mirin but found sake cooking wine. I will use less sugar next time as it was a little sweet. This sauce would be great on ribs to. I made fried rice and everyone loved it.

Pork Chops with Onions and Apples

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
This recipe had great flavor to it but sadly the pork chops were just a little to tough for me, not moist and tender as I had hoped. I did season them and I microwaved my sweet potatoes as others suggested. I cooked it for an hour. My son wouldn't eat it because of the pork chops. I ate one and it was ok but my husband loved it and ate 4 pork chops and said it was just fine. Perhaps this would be better as a crock pot recipe.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
Loved this recipe! I am on WW and figured this would be low in points and it was. I got 10 rolls out of it with each roll being only 3pts and 2 rolls was all I need for dinner. I had never tasted stuffed cabbage before so I had no preconceived notion of how this would taste. However, my husband is Polish and he loved it as well and gobbled it up. He said the only difference was that this sauce was sweet whereas his mothers sauce was not. I did take other reviewers suggestions when I made this. I added some garlic powder to the ground beef as well as a little of the tomato sauce mixture. I also used brown rice and I doubled the sauce. I also doubled the brown sugar but next time I will use less. I cooked it in the crockpot for about 5hrs. My only trouble was with the cabbage leaves. I couldnt pull them off without breaking so I put the cabbage in a pot of boiling water and that seemed to work well.

Tasty Sesame Tilapia

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
Loved this recipe! It was tasty and easy. I did cut way back on the sesame oil tho. I used low sodium soy sauce, extra garlic and also added some chili sauce. I did serve it with toasted sesame seeds and scallions but it didn't realy need it. My son and husband loved it and they both said they want me to make this again soon.

Sausage and Bean Ragout

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
My family absolutely loved this! I made very little changes to make it more Weight Watcher friendly. I used 93% lean ground beef and sweet italian turkey sausage that I removed from the casing. I made garlic croutons to serve along side of this for everyone else. So easy, filing and delicious!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
This is a great recipe! I have made this before in the past and my family loves it. Since the last time I made it, I have joined Weight Watchers and lost a lot but still want to make this for all of us. Even tho its not bad to begin with since chicken breast is a lean protean, I just lightened it up by using the 98%fat free cream of chicken soup and I add a can of light chicken broth. I left out the butter and tried to find the reduced fat grands but couldnt find them so I used regular grands, 1 package. I added garlic powder over the chicken and to the soup mixture I added rosemary and basil. It still came out amazing!

Tacos in Pasta Shells

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I made this last night for dinner. I usually like quick and easy on a weeknight and this was more involved than I had anticipated. It was good but there were some things I didn't care for. The recipe doesn't say to drain the ground beef after cooking it but I always do, but when you add the seasoning and the cream cheese it was very dry, there was nothing to "simmer" so I kept adding water, a little at a time to moisten it. I also felt it needed something else so I did add some of the cheese to the ground beef mixture. After thinking about it, I should have used the taco sauce for more flavor. I finished the recipe as stated but I didnt like the crushed tortilla chips on the top, it looked like a mess when it came out of the oven. I could have just served these shells with the chips on the side and melted the cheese in the microwave. My 11yo son loved it, I thought it was good and my husband thought it was so so. I probably won't make again because it was time consuming and didn't yeild great results.

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
Delicious, quick and easy! I always shake and bake pork chops and was getting tired of it. I came across this recipe and had all the ingredients so I gave it a shot. My husband and 11yo son loved them. I added extra wine so I more sauce. I only simmered mine for 10 min and they were perfect. My only problem was that I could'nt get good color on the pork chops. They just did'nt want to brown. I made more than 4 and tried to brown them at the same time, maybe that was to much. Next time I'll try to brown them in batches. Otherwise, this was very tasty.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
Just made this tonight and I loved it! I made it as written and used fresh garlic that I crushed in the olive oil. I used Panko bread crumbs as well. I had no problems with it being soggy. My chicken cooked for about 25 mins and was nice and brown and crisp but still juicy and tender inside. It had a nice mild garlic taste to it. We enjoyed it very much. It was a nice change of pace from frying regular chicken cutlets. I will be making this again.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
We really liked this, my husband and 11yr old son both want me to make it again. This was very simple to make. I made this as written but did not add all the parmesan cheese because I was afraid it would be to salty. I think next time I will use a ham that has more of a smokey flavor. This time I just bought what was on sale. This cooked much longer than an hour. The recipe didnt say to defrost the hash browns so I just mixed them in frozen with the rest of the ingredients. I can't wait to have the left overs for lunch tomorrow.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
All the reviews on this were correct. This dish was a great crockpot find. So easy and convenient and tasty. I used a packaged taco seasoning mix and I used a bottle of Blue Moon beer which is what I had and didnt even taste the beer at all. I will definitely be making this again. The next time I may try the recipe for the home made taco seasoning. I served with scoops, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream and I dont think it really needed the sour cream but either way it was delicious!

Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
This was ok, I should have floured and browned the chicken as others suggested but I just didnt have the time. I made this recipe as written and found that it was bland. I even used the tomato sauce and diced tomateos that had itialian seasoning in them. While it was cooking, I tasted the sauce and added more of the seasoning and also added red pepper flakes. With this addition, the sauce turned out great but the chicken itself had no flavor while you were eating it. I definitely feel that if I had used seasoned flour on the chicken and cooked it separately from the veggies, it would have tasted better. I served this over whole wheat pasta with some parmesian cheese. I will give this another try and see if it comes out any better.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
This just didn't do it for me. I read the reviews and the top contributors and made all the changes and it really didnt have a great flavor. It left me flat. I used marinated artichoke hearts, I split the mayo and added sour cream and I added sun dried tomates as per one reviewer. The chicken did come out nice and moist and there was alot of water in the pan as expected, but I just drained it out. I guess it just didnt have a flavor we liked.

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
I give this recipe a solid 4 stars. Its definitely a down and dirty meal and not a fancy one but we liked it. I did like most reviews said and mixed the soup and milk in with the chop meat. I also added corn as well and seasoned the ground beef with garlic powder, salt and pepper. I didnt use the whole bag of tater tots. I cooked it for 30 min and the tots were brown but some of them in the middle werent completely cooked, so I will cook it longer next time. My 11 year old cleaned his plate and went back for more so I will make it again.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
Outstanding!! I couldn't beleive how simple and how delicious this soup was. My husband raved about it and even my 11 year old said it was good. I didn't add the zuccini because they didnt look good this time of year. I bought the great northern beans that were not seasoned and I added 2 cans of regular beef broth. I just didn't season with salt and the soup was fine since I knew I was going to be adding cheese. I used a whole bag of spinach and about a cup of cooked ditilani pasta. I simply served this with garlic bread. I will be making this again for sure!

Lemony Chicken with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
I liked this recipe but its probably one I won't make again. I felt it was a lot of work for not that amazing results. It was good and we all enjoyed it, but just not enough for me to make again. I had all the ingredients except for vermouth. I used white wine instead. The overall dish had a good lemon flavor, not over powering. I felt it needed something though. Another review er suggested capers and I think that may do the trick. I served this over whole wheat pasta. It was a nice meal.

Braised Pork Ragu

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
Very Yummy! I liked it because it was tasty and it was different from the usual meals I make. I made this exactly as written. I had to cook this about 45min or so to make sure the pork was tender. I actually had to add more chicken stock because the sauce thickened up so much, so no problem there. I served this over mashed potatoes as others suggested, it was perfect.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
This recipe was awesome! It was easy and flavorful. I had no problems with the sauce thickening up. I did dust the chicken in corn starch and browned first. I only used a little bit of the hot sauce because I wasnt sure how spicy it would be but I could have added more. I served this in a bowl over rice and some steamed broccoli. Definitely give this one a try!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
This was good. I never made salisbury steak before and my husband and son loved it. It was fairly simple. I did add sliced mushrooms and I didnt have mustard powder. I placed the pattties in a pan, poured the sauce and mushrooms over the patties, covered with tin foil and baked for about 40 min at 350. I served with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables from Trader Joe's. I would definately make this again.
