"Picasta" Pasta with Spinach Pesto
About this Cook
My name is Raye. I am 24, a recent college grad, and recently laid off. My husband and I used to be the kind of couple that ate out all the time. Now that the budget has shrunk, its no longer an option. So, I've decided to become very good at cooking and baking. :) I'm a pretty crafty person anyway, and so I am looking forward to expanding my horizons.
My favorite things to cook
Since I just started really cooking, I don't have any favorite dishes. However, what I am most interested in learning how to make is Italian and Mediterranean. I also want to learn how to bake well. I love cinnamon rolls, and I want to be able to make my own.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Some of my favorite childhood memories center around the smells in the kitchen when my Mother would make her various breads and jams. At Christmas, homemade sugar cookies, three or four different kinds of fudge, and divinity always decorated the table. I want that to be my home at Christmas. :)
My cooking triumphs
6/30/10: I made my own pasta and spinach pesto sauce tonight. It was great, and got raving reviews from all eaters involved!
My cooking tragedies
6/25/10: I attempted to make fondant and sugar gum paste. Neither turned out well, and I ended up with a sticky mess in the kitchen!

Pasta with Spinach Pesto Sauce
I made my first batch of homemade pasta today, and the Spinach Pesto Sauce went really well with it. The Pesto Sauce was really easy to make, and I had a lot of fun doing it. I couldn't really taste the Parmesan, really. I think that I am going to try Feta the next time I make this. Overall, 4/5
