Vegetarian Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
We thought this was delicious. I changed it a bit just because I can tell it could be salty, so my changes are as follows. 1 14 oz can of diced tomatos (no salt) 1 14 oz can of diced tomatoes with chilies 2 4 oz chopped green chile peppers 1 vegetable broth cube which is the equal to 2 cups of soup no added salt and pepper to taste-I wouldn't add salt and pepper until the soup is almost done anyway and we didn't need it. mexicali corn Black Beans rinsed Quorn chicken tenders (not vegan but vegetarian) We used Snyders tortilla chips because they are lower in fat and low fat cheese. It really was flavored perfectly this way.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
I wanted to make this for a party and decided to try the recipe out beforehand. I'm glad because it was majorly salty and wouldn't serve this at my party without making some changes. I won't be using the entire taco seasoning mix. My mouth seriously was hurting with each bite. However it looked great.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I've made this many times after my first review-tweaking here and there. One reviewer said to add the flour to the water which I agree is much easier to control. Still bland...I think it's a good start but could be better.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I've made this about 8 times in 3 months. It's great and everyone who's ever tried it wants me to make it every time they come to visit. I'm quite sick of it now in a good way of course. I also use spinach and artichoke cream cheese instead of regular cream cheese, and one time I used the chive cream cheese but it wasn't as good that time. I'm sure it's just as great with regular though.

Asian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
I always get soup from the chinese restaurant and none have been as flavorful as this one. I added more broth because once I added all the veggies there didn't seem to be enough. The soup was better the following day however the noodles were overcooked so next time I'll keep the noodles separate so if I have some leftover the following day I can add the noodles after I heat the soup up so they aren't mushy. Very good- I used exotic mushrooms! Delicious!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
I have grown up eating stuffed mushrooms on every holiday however I've grown tired of my families version (sausage and pepperoni stuffed) that I needed something new. I've tried them stuffed with walnuts and cheddar but these are by far the best. I had a party last weekend and I doubled the recipe for 5 people and had many other items prepared and NOT one mushroom remained. My friends loved them so much that they invited themselves over again this weekend and forced me to triple the recipe, and this time 4 people came and only ONE mushroom remained. We might take a break for a while but when we're ready, we'll be making these guys again.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
Bruschetta is standard in my household, it's made for holiday's and a lot during the summer for a light dinner. I have never melted cheese on bruschetta before but I have cut up fresh mozzarella and put that in the mix. I loved the addition of the sun-dried tomatoes, I didn't have anything left over however the melted cheese is not really necessary. It was delicious without the cheese all together.

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
This is the best pasta fagioli that I have ever tasted and I was raised on this stuff. What I love most is that it is affordable, easy, and delicious. The only bad thing is that it doesn't make a lot.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
The recipe has a great taste, but you have to cook it for much longer than stated. I also think the vegetables should be diced and not chopped. They would cook quicker. In the end, I had a nice puree soup, but it cooked for about an hour longer. I also used a ham steak, which was fantastic in the soup.

Very easy, extremely fluffy. Can be a little dry, but tastes great. I added syrup to the liquids, as well as cinnamon, nutmeg and extra sugar to the dry. I make these every weekend.

Mediterranean Greek Salad

We loved this salad, but we thought the onions were over-powering. Next time I will use less red onion. I also used garlic and herb feta and kalamata olives. A very delicious salad!

Brown Sugar Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
So I read the reviews and followed the advice of some. I used thin chops, and I seasoned them front and back with salt and pepper. I brought the sauce ingrediants to a boil in a small saucepan first but I added about 1 tbls. of honey to the mixture. I poured most of it over the chops, baked it at 300 covered for 20 min. and then poured the rem. mixture over the chops and then baked it for an additional 10 min, and took the cover off for the last 10. No complaints at my house, my husband is a picky eater and thought these were great and NOT dry. I recommend cooking at a lower temperature, it should make it tender. If you want to get them super tender, try the temp at 250 for possibly a longer time. Great and simple recipe.

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
I did not make the chicken part of this dish but I used the dumplings for my beef stew. I have only had dumplings with my Grandma's stew and they were not like these. Regardless, these were delicious. I could not get enough of them. Also I added dried parsley, and s + p.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
I thought it was really good, I made it with Turkey instead of Beef just for a leaner chili. I did however feel that it wasn't thick enough, and I added another can of beans. I thought it tasted good, but it didn't blow me away. Maybe next time add crushed tomatoes, or diced to eliminate some liquid.

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
These had the perfect amount of spices, and tasted very much like McDonald's breakfast sausage but in a great way. I think next time I would buy less sausage and make the patties smaller, because they were the size of hamburgers, and took a lot longer to cook than the recipe stated. (possibly my own mistake, I doubled the recipe) Everyone loved them.
