Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
Sweet potatoes are 'sweet' by nature and do not need 1 cup of white sugar. I used 1/3 cup Brown Sugar, and it was such a fine improvement that I have decided to feature this improved version in my newest church cookbook.

Buckshot Duck with Wild and Brown Rice Stuffing

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
We could not find the sazon seasoning packets in our little grocery store so Juanita and I used Lowry's seasoning salt instead. I did not have to use buckshot to get my duck since I had a lot of ducks already in the pen thinking they were going to get some sour mash. I chose the fat duck which would have been greasy but I poked it full of holes first and set it upon celery stalks which kept it out of it's own grease. Very good duck and we all liked it.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I made these two weeks ago and just now getting back up off the recliner to write about them. I was going to take them to my neighbors pancake supper, but found them to be so good that I ate them all in one sitting. I really would recommend these cookies for sure. Evelyn

Red Velvet Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I served these Red Velvet Cookies at the church baazar last week and they were such a pleasant surprise for everyone. I was given the "Best Cook" award for these tasty bits. I could not get the camera to work as I wanted to try uploading a picture of these on a nice 1940's plate but I had the camera turned around backwards and only took pictures of myself. But perhaps next time I will do it right. Too bad.

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I made a batch of this cookie mix for the church ladies last week and they about passed out from sugar coma. I like the kind with flour in them much better and don't mind having more than three ingredients since I can count higher than most people. Evelyn

Pickled Beets

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
This recipe is just fine - no cinnamon or other spices - they are not spiced pickled beets, just pickled beets. Some people like to add onion, but not me or Juanita ever add onion.

Brown Rice, Broccoli, Cheese and Walnut Surprise

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
I liked this recipe so much since it don't have to use all those nasty cans of soup that have msg and other chemicals in it - this is a true home recipe. It could use more seasoning, especially for us people who like a lot of salt, but what does that say about us?

Pecan Sandies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
Puffy, overly sweet, a waste of good pecans! There are much better pecan sandies recipes on this website and it's worth you time to find them as you won't find it here. These are like soft, butterscotch-sugar cookies and very, very sweet at that. call my dentist - I'm coming in today!

This is just like Ritz Mock Apple Pie recipe on the box of crackers. I should like to eat a mock apple pie any day over eating a 'chemical pie'.

Excellent I must say, although I would not suggest adding the honey - it just does not need it. Mrs. Evelyn

Snickerdoodles II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
They were OK, good, but really need 2 tsp vanilla and 1/2tsp salt rather than just 1/4. Other than that, pretty fairly good. Mrs. Evelyn
