Old Time Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
Amazing! I cooked the chicken in a skillet with a bunch of spices (jambalya flavors). I did substitute evaporated milk for the cream as well as wine for the sherry. I cooked brown rice and made that the bottom layer. I had some fresh mushrooms that I thinly sliced and added to the broccoli which I sauteed in the same pan as the chicken-to get those brown bits. I did saute onions and garlic to add flavor to the sauce. So good!!!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Awesome! I used this reciped with a 15lb roast on Christmas day! I was very skeptical as was my mother-in-law but sure enough this was fantastic! I did rub with olive oil and Montreal Steak Seasoning and a can of beef broth in the bottom of the pan. I also let roast sit on counter for about 30 mins covered in foil after taking out of the oven.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Excellent soup! So easy to prepare. I sauteed the onions in the stock pot in a tablespoon of olive oil to release the flavor. I also left the potatos unpeeled. I did add shredded carrots and fresh spinach...this is restaurant quality!!!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I used cocktail links and did this in a casserole dish on the stove. I recommend tasting the sauce as you are cooking. I cut the amount of ketchup and it was still all I could taste..so I added about 1/2 c. of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and it was fantastic!

Aunt Bev's Famous Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Very good! This was a big hit...I used more cinnamon and less sugar as other reviewers mentioned. I used Cortland apples. I also dusted the inside of the bottom crust with flour to keep from getting soggy and glazed the top crust at the end of baking with sugar and 2 tablespoons of melted butter!

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was fantastic. I did make the night before. I did not add the sugar as it was sweet enough. I also did not add the club soda or Sprite to the entire batch. Rather, I mixed in individual glasses. Therefore, if people wanted it sweeter I mixed w/Sprite...if not I mixed with club soda. This was a big hit at my 4th of July party...doubling the recipe makes a gallon...I made 3!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was a big hit at my 4th of July party. I cooked for 10 hours...first couple hours on high and then low. I did use a dry rub I bought from my butcher called "Old Fashioned BBQ seasoning". This was recommended by the butcher and added nice flavor. Everyone asked for the recipe...

Chili I

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2004
I just placed first place tonight in a chili contest with this recipe as a base! I did cut down the brown sugar, added roasted red peppers, montreal steak seasoning and jalapenos in place of the chiles. Also, I did half the beef broth and used spicy V8. It was excellent. When I told people the ingredients they were skeptical but in the end...they came to realize. I did change this a recipe bit but it was a great recipe to start with. This is now a standard in my book. Oh, also be sure to use a nice dark beer. If it is cooked for several hours on low the taste really melds together nicely!

Spicy South Of The Border Spinach Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2004
This was excellent. I followed other reviewer's suggestions and omitted the half and half and added a dollop of sour cream. Next time I may even consider adding some diced pickled artichokes. Another thing I used was Del Monte's petite diced tomatoes with jalapenos...will make again and again!

Tangy Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2004
Easy and yummy. This has a different flavor that my husband and I really enjoyed. It was a bit too cold to use the grill today so I broiled in the oven and it was great.I used a spicy honey mustard instead of Dijon. Will make again!

Ham and Fresh Basil Pinwheels

Phenomenal! These were excellent and very easy to do. I followed some other's advice and cut the sundried tomatoes into small pieces. I then cut up the basil into small pieces with a pair of kitchen scissors. I served these at a party and they were a big hit.

Taco Dip

Good recipe. I brought this to an outdoor party. It was quite warm out and the dip became soupy. The flavor was good and people (especially the kids) liked this but it looked gross after only a couple of hours.
