Hello! I am such a dreadful blogger, I am terrible at getting around to posting anything even when I have plenty to talk about! Today's post is inspired by having lots and lots to talk about mainly today's cooking extravaganza :) First off I will give some back-story to why the major cook-athon MORE

About this Cook
I have always loved cooking and baking ever since I can remember. I grew up out in the country and the only grocery store was an hour away. We bought everything in bulk and grew a lot of vegetables in the garden and our house was always full of baking, my mom made all our bread and cookies and snacks from scratch and made wonderful meals with wild moose and deer. It taught me to appreciate home cooking and baking and I honestly just don't like most ready made foods, I will always choose to make it myself.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking! I could spend all day baking everything from squares to cookies to pies... The only wish is that I had more occasions to bake for others so that I don't have to eat it all ;p
My favorite family cooking traditions
Any holiday baking with my Mom. Easter was all about making hot crossed buns and it was my job to snip the crosses in and ice them all. Christmas was about lots and lots of gingerbread cookies, a never ending stream of cutting out shapes and then decorating! By the 150th cookie the last thing you want to see is any more frosting, haha.
My cooking triumphs
I made some chicken noodle soup once when I was really sick and man was it good soup.... Haha, I'm serious, it was sooo super good.
My cooking tragedies
Well I have a terrible short term memory and more than one trays of cookies and loaves of bread have fallen victim to me forgetting to set the timer and then getting distracted and leaving...

WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies
Very yummy with wonderful deep flavour! I think next time I may try adding some cinnamon and cloves though, since I generally like a spicy oatmeal raisin cookie

Sauerkraut Rye Bread
Yummy! I am really enjoying this bread, very nice and moist (quite dense though). I used less sugar and butter than called for and it still turned out really well and rose nicely. I will definitely be making this again.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge
I made this and got impatient and poured it into the pan before it had totally reached soft ball stage and it didn't set. After much debate I put it all back in the saucepan the next day and reboiled it and this time didn't cut corners and it actually worked and set correctly the second time around. I made it for my grandparents and boyfriend and they raved it was the best fudge they have ever eaten.
