About this Cook
I am a wife, mom and Property Manager. I grew up on a small family farm in NH. I love animals, nature, gardening and anything with friends and family. My husband and I are always outside, in the garden, cooking out, playing, in the park, at the farm, walking the dogs. We love it.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta. So I make a lot of different kids of pasta dishes. I make my own pesto. This summer has been the summer of heirloom tomato and basil salads too. So yummy! I have been trying to make new recipes and cook outside of my comfort zone and it has been pretty rewarding so far. I have been making everything from scratch this summer, salad dressings, marinades, you name it. I know it is fresh and no chemicals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family coking tradition is Thanksgiving. My mom makes this huge turkey dinner for @ 20 people. It is always delicious and hot all at the same time which is magic I think. We do the turkey with all the fixings. Dumplings, meat and regular stuffing, corn, peas, mashed potatoes, carrots, bread and rolls, pies, gravy, and salad and cheese plates,,fruit plates and green bean casserole, squash and turnips. I am forgetting something but the meal is like 3 hours long because we have so many courses. It is my favorite holiday and meal and we always have a full house of friends and family.
My cooking triumphs
I have been making everything fresh from scratch. I have mastered the marinades and dressings. I have mastered the smoothie no matter what kind. I cook, I bake. Do I make pasta or bread from scratch? No. That is my next challenge.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many cooking failures. I am not huge on salt. I have found that it is pretty necessary to highlight flavors and helpful in more ways than one. There were many years of my husband eating bland food because I was afraid to season. Now I know it is ok to season and in moderation salt is useful and worth adding to any recipe. Oh yeah, and the worst dish I made was making apple pie for thanksgiving and forgetting to add flour so it was apple pie soup. Terrible but we had a good laugh.

Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Baked Chicken Wings

Melt in Your Mouth Marinade
This is one of my go to marinades when I am in a rush. Easy and quick. very yummy.
