Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
This was delicious. I used less butter and substituted shredded swiss for cheddar. Be careful not to fill with the spinach mixture or you won't have enough room for eggs to swim around.

Squash-Apple Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Great recipe. Next time I will cut the squash smaller just for looks and add either nuts, cranberries or raisins for interest. I baked for 1 hour and it was perfectly done. The sauce was enough although it looked as if it wouldn't be.

Greek Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
This is a very heavy and sweet cake and too much to keep around the house. I gave half to neighbors.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Outstanding flavor. I baked for 2 1/2 hours and substituted 2 tbl of fresh rosemary and 3 cloves of garlic as the weight of the 2 loins was over 2 lbs.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
Excellent recipe. I used a store bought graham cracker crust. I also really cooked the lemon filling fairly long to make sure it was thickened. Make the meringue before you are ready to pour the lemon filling so that you add the meringue while filling is hot. I add 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar to meringue (habit). Best next day!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This is an easy recipe even without the bread machine. I used regular flour and regular yeast and made it by hand. It's crispy right out of the oven, but loses crispiness pretty quickly. When I make it for company, I will reheat and hopefully that will crisp it up!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2005
My first successful fudge baking experience! It was easy. I also couldn't get the temperature high enough so I let it boil for 8 minutes. I used 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1 cup dark chocolate chips and 1 cup of semisweet chips and reduced the sugar to 1 cup. No nuts. It was great. I will make for a hostess gift at Thanksgiving.

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2005
Great recipe. I did add 1/4 tsp sugar, used 1/3 cup per crepe and generated 9 crepes. Followed others and mixed milk, water, vanilla together before mixing alternately into egg batter with flour. For filling we used fresh rasperries (simmered with a pinch of sugar and drained), pineapple topping from grocery store, bananas cooked with butter and brown sugar with a drizzle of fresh, melted chocolate. Definately a hit!

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2005
This was great. Served it to 9 people and everyone loved it. I added a lot of salt and also a small jar of liquid seasoning, 2 whole onions and garlic to water. I'm glad I cooked it outside though as it's messy to handle. Would make again.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
These were excellent. I only cooked 1.5 lbs ribs on a Q grill and 45 mintues on low was enough. I will make this again and again.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Excellent cake. People at work loved it. I followed a reviewer's recommendation and heated oven to 350 first, then baked at 325 for 30 minutes. It was very moist.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2002
I made this for my adult daughter's birthday since it's her favorite pie. It went over very well with everyone. I took the advice of other reviewers and combine 2% milk and the half and half to make it less dense. I also used a merangue topping which I baked (after the pie was in refrigerator for 4 hours) topped with coconut for the toasted taste and look.

Becky's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2001
I served it at a baby shower and all the ladies loved it. I used Miracle Whip, but less than the recipe called for.
