I am married to a great man. We've been married over a year. I've known him a long time. We are living in Iowa for the moment. I'm starting my own business. and Getting things in order. Love to Bake, cook ..It's my passion, that and being with family.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make a lot of Central American dishes, (mainly from Guatemala) I will be sharing some that I have made, and hope that it will help someone expand their horizons. I cook Italian, mexican, and I love to BBQ..My husband likes to dice, and help me prep. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Tortillas..:) I love to make home made tortillas, and make Tamales. We make them in Banana leaves. So, it's different from the traditional corn husk way. We fix supper together. My husband helps cut, and dice and slice. :) I love to bake as well. I make a mean 3 leches cake! (3 milk ) I also love to make rice. I add so many different things to it.
My cooking triumphs
My Rice, My Beans. I make the best beans from what all my friends, family and neighbors tell me. I make rice with meats, veggies, and even Rice pudding. I've won awards for my Dishes. I make good tacos, and torillas. Marinated pork, and green salsa (salsa verde) I have been told that I should sell my recipe :)
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had many. I remember when I first learned to make a chicken dish. Called Mole. I made it to spicy! but, I am now in-famous with my friends, and family and neighbors. they come and ask me now when am I going to make more mole and pollo (chicken)..and of course, when I was first learning to make tortillas. But, I know how to now.:)

Central American Tacos
My husband is from Guatemala. We added a roasted salsa to it as well. Although we also used minced garlic in the meat mixture. That really put it over the top. Also we used Guatemalen Table cream (found in your local latino markets) and WOW!! that really made it good! Oh, what I meant by roasted salsa is, you can on your grill or over a flat skillet roast your Jalepenos or serrano peppers (we prefer serrano) your onion, and roma tomtoes. till they are pliable, and your able to mash together. add salt and lime juice to taste. if you have a molcajete it is better. Which is just a bowl found at the store. it's made from stone, and has a stone grinder. it's perfect for salsas. or you can use a masher in a bowl. but, there is another seasoning you can add and that's Caldo de res. (beef boulion) to add to the meat. just a touch. not to much. and that will also put it over the top. Also, don't microwave your tortillas. You want "authentic" taste? warm them on your flat skillet or any flat iron surface that you would like make a pancake or something. Microwave tortillas are gross, and fall apart if warmed to long. and they don't stay warm as long. Plus it's got better flavor this way. totally authentic.

Triple Threat Fruit Smoothie
I have tried this, and especially being out all day when it's been hot and humid. It's a refreshing treat for me and my family. I found that adding even different berries into it, really makes it pop and be really colorful at times. We've done raspberrys, and blueberries together, and that was just awesome!! I am glad I found this recipe! Thanks for sharing!!
