About this Cook
I love food and have a passion for cooking. I like trying new and different recipes and making it my own.
My favorite things to cook
Pastas, poultry, seafood, italian, mexican, asian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with my parents always trying to get my siblings and I involved in helping them cook. We would get to do the easy tasks like peeling veggies or grating cheese or measuring and pouring in the liquids. When I got older I appreciated it more and I'm grateful that they showed me the importance of cooking because it has helped me build a passion for cooking. I also love how my parents make "non-traditional" Thanksgiving dinners: prime rib instead of turkey. I never missed the turkey one bit.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever my boyfriend is happy with my cooking and tells me how delicious it is and how he loves that I can cook - it puts a smile on my face.
My cooking tragedies
There have been some dishes that just turned out horribly. Most notably a recipe I found online some place for some pork chops. I decided to make it because I needed a quick and easy recipe for pork chops and I happened to have the ingredients at home at that time. It turned out tasteless and didn't look pleasing either. Needless to say, it has been the worst thing I have ever cooked. I barely ate a piece of it before tossing the entire thing out. And of course I need to work on my baking.

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata
This recipe was excellent! I did make some minor adjustments. Since I did not have a can of diced tomatoes with olive oil & garlic, I instead diced some fresh tomatoes and tossed it with some minced garlic and extra virgin olive oil before adding it to the pan. I also omitted the basil since I did not have any. And I used boneless skinless chicken breasts which I cut in half lengthwise to help thin them down, instead of the cutlets. Rather than mixing the garlic powder, salt, and pepper with the bread crumbs; I instead used garlic salt and freshly ground black pepper which I added to the egg wash before dipping the chicken breasts. I also did add a bit more tomato sauce and olive oil as I simmered the sauce to create more sauce. It turned out perfectly and had a nice spicy flavor. My boyfriend loved it and took the rest of the leftovers with him to lunch today. I will definitely be making this again.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
I cooked this for my boyfriend and his family and it was a huge hit. It was falling off of the bone when I took it out of the oven and was very flavorful and juicy. My boyfriend's mother complimented me on my cooking and told me it was better than the rotisserie chicken she usually gets when she eats out. This recipe is a keeper.

Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake
I followed the advice of the other reviewers and omitted the cream of tartar. I made this for my boyfriend and his family and they all thought it was delicious. They especially loved the cake. I thought it was pretty good but somehow I guess I was expecting a bit more. I will probably make this again but may tweak the recipe a little bit.
