About this Cook
I express my love for people through cooking. It's one of my biggest passions in life, and can always cheer me up if I am feeling blue. I believe in living a healthy lifestyle, but not always being a stickler on everything. If i go to a birthday party, well then dammit, i'm going to have birthday cake. =)
My favorite things to cook
Anything Super spicy. Southern inspired dishes. Combining textures, colors and contrasting falvors for a full bodied and complimentary meal. I am pescatarian so I cook a LOT of vegetarian & seafood, but still LOVE cooking for my meat eating family and friends. Breakfast is the most versatile meal of the day and my favorite to cook! i LOVE using mint leaves, cream cheese, wine, lemon zest, serrano peppers, spiced rum, feta cheese, blueberries or sun dried tomatoes to randomly add zing into some of my favorite recipes. Rosemary is also my fav. herb of all time. =) Rhubarb is rad. ps - my grandmas were better cooks than your grandmas ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cornflake potatoes Lemon Tarts Italian Meatloaf Coconut Parmesean Tilapia w Mango Salsa Pumpkin Pancakes Super Spicy Breakfast Quiche Southwestern Quinoa Rosemary Pork Chops Oat Bran Crepes Spinach Orzo stuffed portobellos balsamic glazed salmon infused with rosemary

Wicked Garlic Tofu Saute
Added some water chestnuts, bean sprouts, noodles and served this over brown rice with the tiniest bit of teriyaki sauce over top. My husband didn't even care that it was tofu! he loved it! Very healthy. =)

Alyson's Broccoli Salad
Such a great potluck crowd pleaser. If you have anyone in your fam who doesn't like raisins (like mine), try using diced strawberries or halved grapes instead!

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I
SO delicious. My husband raved about it, and said it was the best peach cobbler he's ever had. (he had no idea i used boxed cake mix) - added some candied pecans, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon on top, and used southern style canned peaches that already come with brown sugar and cinnamon flavoring. SO delish. Also had some fresh raspberries on hand so i halved them and threw em in. Wonderful dessert served with vanilla ice cream.
