About this Cook
I was my mother's sous chef at the age of 9. Since then my love of cooking has developed into an obsession. "How did you make that? Does this have cumin? How long was that in the oven? I wonder how this would taste with brown sugar?" I can't stop talking about food. I love to cook!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Some of my favorite traditions are during Christmas when my mother makes her delicious hot chocolate and tamales. We get up late on the 25th (because we've stayed up partying all night past 12 the night before) and have our traditional breaksfast: panetone, tamales and of chocolate.
My cooking triumphs
No matter how hard I try to make something super-fabulous my husband usually wants me to make pesto. I chuckle because it requires just about no cooking! Go figure.

Carrot Cake III
When I made this cake for my father-in-law's birthday I was told "this cake is bangin'" and I am not a great even I was impressed! It was quite good. It practically disappeared before my eyes. I diligently followed the substitutions on the cake ingredients. I wasn't so happy with the icing recipe though.. but then I did use fat-free cream cheese rather than the regular kind. Learned that lesson!

Chocolate Rum Balls I
These were great. Rolling really gets tiring so be prepared for the work. I almost completely followed the recipe except that I added a little more cocoa. I like the stronger chocolate flavor with rum balls. Highly recommended!

Figs and Toasted Almonds Brie
love this recipe. almonds and figs are a nice touch but baked brie stands strong on its own.
