Fried Cabbage and Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
I'm not sure what to say about this. It was a bit bland, we had to add garlic powder, extra salt 'n pepper. Might add onions next time too, some minced garlic. There wasn't a lot of flavor to it, but we still liked it. We used about half a head of cabbage and 12 oz of egg noodles. Nothing browned. Not sure what I did wrong, and I'm sure it would taste even better that way, but the way it came out wasn't exceptional. 4 stars because I like the idea, but it needs a little work...

Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
I wonder if this recipe actually calls for 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary. I used 1 teaspoon of dried, and I think the chicken came out perfectly. I didn't use the onion, and I might next time, but I don't think it was necessary.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
This dressing came out alright. I made it exactly according to the directions. I can't exactly place what the off taste is, but it's either the sour cream or maybe the garlic powder...I'm going to keep looking for an excellent recipe...thanks for sharing!

Pecan Pie IV

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
I made this over Thanksgiving for the in-laws (who were already biased to the MIL's version), and everyone loved it! I took another reviewer's advice and doubled the recipe to make 3 shallow pies (instead of deep dish). I mixed in the pecans, but I think I'll just add them to the bottom next time since it was hard to pour the mixture in three pies without one ending up with all the pecans! Great pie! I'll definitely make again!

Sour Cream Apple Pie Deluxe

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I followed this recipe exactly, and although it was indeed a delicious pie, I didn't think this was the best pie ever... Update - I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This pie gets better the longer it's refrigerated. I couldn't stop eating it!

Libby's® Famous Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I think this is probably the only pumpkin pie I've ever had (though I really want to try a little something different, maybe nutmeg or more cinnamon). The only problem I had with this recipe is that I always have much more pie mix than I do pie crust...

Raspberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
I made a few changes, but I don' t think they took away from the overall recipe so I'm giving it 5 stars. Instead of 1/2 cup of plain yogurt, I used 1/4 raspberry yogurt and 1/4 lemon. I used canola oil instead of vegetable oil, and I used the lemon extract but not the lemon zest (which probably would have made it even better, but I didn't have any and didn't want to make it!) I also used fresh raspberries since the reason I found this recipe was because I had gone looking for a recipe to use up the raspberries I had bought on sale. These were delicious muffins that stayed moist in a tupperware container for days!

Baked Apples with Mint

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly, and my family really didn't like this at all. I didn't find it too extraordinary myself. I'm kind of disappointed that I wasted apples on this recipe and won't be making this dish again.

Carrot Raisin Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
I too had to use sour cream because I couldn't for the life of me find a small container of plain yogurt. I also only used 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise even though I doubled the recipe. I wasn't overall impressed with this dish, and I don't think I changed that much. Not sure about the cinnamon. I might try nutmeg next time; it seems like that would go nicely with the honey and raisins...

Mushroom Onion Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
I took some of the other reviewers' advice and used less water. I partly used the water from the can of mushrooms as well as regular water equalling to 2/3 cup. I think I might use more next time even though the rice still came out great. My family devoured it!

Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
I have had the worst time with these cookies. I have to make them really small or they fall apart. They're much too sweet so definitely need less chips. I wish I had followed some of the other reviews and used less oats. I won't make these again...

Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
This was delicious! We were even able to trick our 2-year-old into eating it (he hates chicken). I did read it wrong and used olive oil instead of vegetable oil (which is why I only gave 4 stars), but apparently that was fine because I loved this dish!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Everyone loved these! I made a few changes based on past reviews. I used 3/4 cup white sugar and 3/4 cup brown sugar, left out the walnuts, and baked them at 375 for 8 minutes. They came out deliciously chewy and tasted like brownies!

Applesauce Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
Okay, here are my changes to the recipe. I only used a 1/2 tsp cinnamon, but I wish I'd used the 3/4 tsp listed. I couldn't really taste the spices as much as I would have liked. I also used 1/4 tsp allspice because I don't have any cloves and 3/4 butter instead of shortening for the same reason. I added 1 tsp vanilla and left out the walnuts and raisins which was probably a mistake too. I also added 1/3 cup butterscotch chips and 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips just because I had them to use up. I left the first batch in for 10 minutes. They came out soft and doughy but still good. I thought they might taste better crispy so I left the second batch in for 12 minutes. They came out crispier but still soft. I got 4 dozen out of the batter (my cookies are somewhat small) then decided to use the rest to make 3 regular size muffins which I left in for 16 minutes. They came out very heavy; it will be interesting to see how they taste. Overall, they weren't as spicy as I was hoping, and I guess I should have left in at least the raisins and the full amount of cinnamon. I gave these a 4 though because I imagine they'd taste better if I followed the recipe better...

Delightful Apple Spice Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
I made quite a few changes to this recipe based on others' reviews. I changed the sugar to brown sugar, added 1/4 tsp vanilla. and melted the butter. I also changed the way it was mixed. First I sfited together the flour, cinnamon, allspice, baking powder, and baking soda. Then I made a well. Then I lightly beat the eggs and mixed with the melted but cooled butter, the brown sugar, the applesauce, and the vanilla. I poured the wet into the dry and mixed til just moistened. I made 12 and left them in for 24 minutes. They came out moist and delicious, but I might try a little more spice to it next time. Maybe some nutmeg?

Never Fail Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
This recipe has never failed me (unlike a few others I've tried on this site.) I did change the baking to 375 for 8-9 minutes so they would come out nice and soft. I've dropped all other chocolate chip recipes for this one, and I'm even using this to try other recipes (like replacing the vanilla with almond and using white chocolate chips).

Berry Cornmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
Maybe I did something wrong or maybe I'm just really not a fan of cornbread, but I didn't like these at all. The cornbread taste was too overpowering for me. I gave them 3 stars though because my 2 year old devoured them.

French Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
These came out great! I took some of the advice in other reviews and changed 1/2 cup sugar to 1/4 sugar and 1/4 brown sugar. I also added 1 tsp vanilla extract. I should have taken everyone's advice and halved the topping recipe; there was still a lot of sugar left that I didn't want to put on for fear of making them too sweet. I suppose they do taste cakey, but I like cakey : ) Excellent recipe!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
I don't think I did anything wrong, but I was not impressed with these cookies. First, 15 minutes is too long; my first batch came out thin and crunchy and stuck to the pan. 10 minutes did better, but they till stuck. and were still not the big fat chewy cookies promised. I don't think I'll use this recipe again.
