About this Cook
I am a wife of almost 11 years and have 4 boys. I love to try any type of dish. I try to please everyone while getting in necessary nutrition. I love my mom's cooking. I have also learned a thing or two from my M-I-L and her German background. Papa's waffles are the best!
My favorite things to cook
LOVE to grill! I make some serious pork baby-back ribs! My hubby & I make the best brats ever! You have to credit him and his German family background on the brats! I can also whip up some awesome cakes... I have learned a few decorating tips along the way =D. Zuppa Toscana (like Olive Garden) is to die for. Seared Ahi Tuna, beef kabobs, stir-fry, grilled/marinated shrimp (tequila/garlic/lime is yummy), clam chowder with a hint of vinegar (I learned that from a user from this site), BURGERS! Best burgers are made from Sprout's ground beef; Organic and mouth watering!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everyone loves anything we grill. Brats & kraut are a get-together tradition. I brine chicken & turkey and sometimes shrimp. We love them super juicy. I love to smoke & bbq ribs but they take up my whole day. However they are fall-off-the-bone tasty! OMG I want some now! Meatloaf is another favorite here. Stir-fry with lots of veggies & fresh ginger. Seared Ahi tuna is also delish... We make some killer beef kabobs! Zuppa Toscana from my list is AWESOME! Hubby can eat 4 bowls! Pesto is a new favorite! I plan on trying a few more versions exchanging the pine nuts for walnuts and more.
My cooking triumphs
I make my own vinegar! White & red wine and even malt. I am working on ACV! Took a while to get the "mother" but after I did it took off! I have so much "mother"! Also cooking for everyone on Thanksgiving is a triumph! Had to do 2 turkeys once! Tons of work but I know I will like the food! My mom makes many goodies and she's the one who taught me to cook in the first place. I love everything she makes. My hubby loves her "Shepard's Pie". My dad makes the best turkey gravy. My mom & I made an awesome wedding cake for my brother, a baby shower cake and many other b-day cakes for my 4 boys. I always use my now trademark almond flavored "pound-cake" type batter. My M-I-L is a great cook as well and I love her oyster stuffing. She makes the best deviled eggs & homemade salsa! Love her oven ribs! She's the one that introduced me to the Cowboy Caviar. On my page I call it "Cowboy Confetti Salsa aka Cowboy Caviar" My F-I-L makes some really great eggrolls. We miss Papa's waffles!
My cooking tragedies
OMG... I make the worst hard boiled eggs! Every way I try it sucks! Either they don't peel well or I get the stupid green ring around the yolk. I tried a creamy chicken crockpot stew and it curdled! It was edible but looked hideous! Made the worst baked scallops from this site!!! Everyone was gagging! They were horrible. I followed the recipe to the T but they tasted like "bleep". Tried to hide a b-day cake for my oldest step-son in laundry room and a laundry soap bottle "magically" fell on it... LOL! My hubby is sticking to that story! Had to buy a grocery store one on our way to Grandma & Grandpa's. Just threw on the "Bob The Builder" toys and we were set. However.. my homemade cake was much nicer... Not to tap myself on the back or anything... LOL... I love my kids!!!

Banana Banana Bread
I think a little more sugar would be better. Took way longer than 65 minutes. Dark on outside and near raw. Husband & kids like it fine.

Didn't do it for me. Too bitter. Kids said it was sour.
