I'm an older, adventuresome nursing mom. I love to cook, crawl around in caves, walk, read, play music and sing, dance, make and display costumes, swim (or at least play in the water!), and other activities that I can't remember now. (Did I mention I'm older?)
My favorite things to cook
I like making pureed soups (Carrot Ginger Soup, Chilled Cucumber Soup, etc), hummus, quesadillas (my fmaily loves that too), sauteed zucchini, apple butter (!), applesauce, vegetable soup, potato-leek soup, vegetarian (and non) pot-pies, maple chocolate chip cookies, no-bake cookies (usually dh does these), and many others. I used to cook A LOT (and some really adventurous foods!) with a former-pro-cook roommate, but he went on to become an Orthodox priest and now he's about to start a monastery in Texas, and I have a husband, a house and two tiny children, so I don't get to cook like that anymore. :(
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother and I always made Rice Krispies treats, sometimes chocolate-covered (mmm!). We also made a lot of cookies and sometimes candy around Christmastime.
My cooking triumphs
Apple Butter!, Carrot Ginger Soup, Chilled Cucumber and Dill Soup, Black Bean and Rice Quesadillas, Hummus, Vegetable Soup, Potato Bread, "Ezekiel" Bread, Culchannan, Vegetarian Pot Pies, Rhubarb Crisp, Corn Chowder, Vegetable and Dill Summer Pizza,
My cooking tragedies
Corn Chowder (got it later!), Fennel Soup (tried to duplicate what my former roomate did, and FAILED miserably!), Vegetarian Faux-beef and Barley Soup (STILL haven't got that!).
