About this Cook
I grew up not spending any time in the kitchen since my mom was in casseroles (and still is) but I started cooking after college and found out that I really enjoyed exploring different menus. I love trying new recipes when we have guests over and also attempt during the week. I feel I have improved my cooking abilities tremendously in short time. I have long ways to go however!
My favorite things to cook
Authentic Asian recipes (Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese).
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a new family and would like to start several traditions such as Eggrolls, fresh spring rolls for Spring, Pho for winter, Vietnamese rice noodle dish. All very new now, but those dishes I have been doing year to year according to seasons.
My cooking triumphs
Baking cakes for my children's birthday parties according to my kid's favorite of the yr: ie Ice cream cone shaped cake, 3-D teapot cake, 3-D Princess cake (using Barbie and cake as her dress),3-D calculator (b/c my 2 yo loved pushing buttons).

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake
Great taste. Easy to prepare. Just a long process, but not gruesome. I had to bake it for additional 30 min. The middle seemed uncooked at stated time and tested with toothpick after each additional 10 min. It was impressive with homemade whipping cream and choc chips on top.

Spicy Crispy Beef
The dish was tasty. Sweet tasting but flavorful. Too bad for so much sugar/honey. The addition I did was the 1.5 Tbp cornstarch to the sauce (I used broccoli too). I felt that there was too much liquid that isn't coating the content, so I added the cornstarch (before sauce got too hot & made sure it dissolved) into the sauce. So much better!
