Excellent recipe. I had very good results. I had two changes. I didn't have shortening so I used butter. And I added two tablespoons of 'flour improver'. The doughnuts were excellent, the best recipe yet. I live at 5000 feet altitude and often have a problem with breads, cakes and such being very dense, due to the yeast over-expanding and then collapsing. But these came out very good. I look forward to making them again. But they are best eaten right away. For some reason, doughnuts lose their wow factor after resting overnight. Well worth the time and effort. Actually not much more work than other doughnut recipes that I've made before.
