Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I think this recipes is almost foolproof. It's very good and very easy. I made it just as written although I think I might have had less than 10 cups of apples, so I thought I had plenty of topping as I see some reviewers have doubled the topping. Excellent!

Made just as written except I baked it for 45 mins. Excellent recipe and just what I was looking for!

Apple Honey Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Made as directed (minus nuts) and thought it was excellent. I felt there was no need for any type of icing or sugar as it would only "gild the lily." Received rave reviews from all who ate it! Definite keeper!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
Very good, easy recipe. The first time I made it I used salsa from the jar and the recipe was good, but I had jack up the spices a bit. The second time I used fresh salsa from the refrigerated aisle and that made a big difference - it has a much better fresh tomato taste. I also used a roasted garlic salsa so I omitted the garlic called for in the recipe. Either way, it's better the second day!

Apple Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I made the recipe as written, only substituting butter for margerine. They came out very moist and not too sweet which I like a lot. I'll make them again using applesauce instead of butter and maybe adding some raisins.

Blueberry Pie

I get raves with this recipe which I make with Best Ever Pie Crust from this site. I've heard a lot of "I'm not a big blueberry pie person, but THIS is excellent!"

Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
Excellent recipe with a good "meaty" feel. I did change a few things. I chopped three onions, one green pepper and three crushed garlic cloves that I sauteed in a little olive oil (this would also cut down on the bitterness of the onion that one reviewer mentioned). I also added the crumbles half way through the simmer time as recommended by another reviewer. I froze up a bunch and will enjoy them for lunch for a while!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
I've made this several times with either venison, caribou or beef and it's excellent every time. It's a nice chunky soup that has a nice thickness due to the barley.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Changed the way I feel about making pie crust. One reviewer suggested rolling it between plastic wrap, which I did, and it made all the difference. No muss, no fuss! Nice flaky crust with good flavor.

Creamy Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2005
Love this recipe! A perfect winter soup. I crushed in two cloves of garlic and added a little garlic powder on top of that, then seasoned to taste. I also made it with half whole milk and half skim milk, but would make it again with only skim milk to make it low fat. I also added a can of cream style corn as one reviewer suggested. Excellent!

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2005
This is THE Beef Stew recipe. It's never been one of my favorite meals until now. Instead of the cornstarch, I dredged the meat in flour and browned it a batch at a time in the dutch oven. The result is a thick, rich, flavorful stew that everyone I make it for proclaims is the best ever! Thank you for this recipe!

Crab Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2005
Excellent! I also didn't put in the Tabasco (didn't have any) but it didn't suffer for it. Full of flavor, tender and delicious. Make sure you use a deep dish pie crust though -- it makes a lot.

Barbecued Country Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2003
Excellent recipe. Like another reviewer said, it's not a barbecue sauce flavor. Instead, it's a tomato-ey sauce that thickens upon standing and is even better the next day. I made it in the pressure cooker and substituted some worcestershire sauce for the hot sauce (didn't have any). Would be great over rice or with potatoes.

This is a GREAT recipe! Very easy and very good. I didn't change a thing and it came out perfect. I had quite a hard time finding the ginger garlic paste, but finally located it in the produce section near some stir fry mixes and sauces. Highly recommended!

I loved this recipe. They are not very crispy, but they have such a nice flavor and the chicken is so tender that it doesn't really matter.
