My weight has been all over the map over the years. In 2003, when I first met my husband, I was my slimmest as an adult at 120lbs. Rather than eating healthfully, however, I wasn't eating much at all. Over the last 7 yrs, we've both steadily put on weight - darn you, love! - and are looking for a healthier lifestyle. We love food, we love wine & we love to cook - we just need to find that balance b/w enjoying delicious food w/ nutritious choices!
My favorite things to cook
Grilled marinated eggplant, grilled meats, various stews and soups in our crock pot, ANYTHING with lots of garlic and/or cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a kid, Christmas time meant baking LOTS of cookies - kolaczkis, seven-layer bars, Russian tea cakes, nut cookie tartlets, almond crescents, rosettes, and so many others - it was the one time of year that the whole family helped in the kitchen, and no one got in trouble for making a mess!
My cooking triumphs
COQ AU VIN - used a combination of ideas from different recipes and was floored by how delish it was! Also, made PASTITSIO from scratch for my family and there was all kinds of "Mmm-mmm"ing.
My cooking tragedies
Nearly set the house on fire burning popcorn on the stovetop.
