If you're looking for a rich, chocolatey, melt in your mouth type brownies, these are not it. This recipe is just ok, not fabulous. I'm not quite sure why it has such high reviews. I tried this recipe twice before revewing and folowed it exactly as listed. The first time I used melted butter as recommended, the second time I used the oil in the original recipe. Both times I found the brownies to be more sticky and sweet with a sugary, oily aftertaste rather than rich and chocolately, which is how I prefer them. Brownies aren't very hard to make and there aren't many ingredients so I have a hard time giving a 5 star rating for a simple overly sweet recipe when to me it tasted exactly like something I could have gotten out of a box and spent half the time preparing. I think a recipe with more chocolate and less sugar and one which allows for a thicker, richer, more chocolatey outcome is what I was looking for.
