Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
this is pretty darn good. for my first try i used the 1/3 reduced fat spreadable cream cheese even though the cheesecake tips said to use the regular cream cheese blocks. my family and friends said it was great and it had the real cheesecake flavor :) thank you!

Ahi Poke Basic

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so easy and an absolute favorite with my family and friends. after i made it the first time they kept asking for more! and they still are! so i made it again and i will definitely be making this again in the future. i recommend only adding 1/2 cup soy sauce or less for every pound: i also ommited the mac nuts. the sesame oil is the secret ingredient here :D

Spicy Cabbage Kimchi

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
i rly want to give this a good review but it deserves a 3. ONLY because it is too salty! i recommend using a 1/3 or LESS, and only soaking for about 3-4 hrs instead of 6! the rest of the recipe is great, just adjsut the salt! author of the recipe you really need to change it from 1 1/4 to 1/3 cup or less of salt!

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
great recipe. i have made this many times and its an easy, delicious on the go breakfast.healthier and still DELICOUS version. my changes: instead of adding the entire 2 cups flour, i use 2 cups flour & one cup oatmeal. i replace the 2/3 cup shortening with applesauce, and i didnt have buttermilk, so i used regular milk. to save time, i peel the apples, than chop them up on the cutting board with a cleaver - dont waste time being dainty and trying to them cut on small plate.

Coconut Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
i would give it 5 stars, but whether it was my fault or the recipe (i made muffins instead of a loaf) it came out a bit dry. but i dip it in cold 1% milk and i swear it is heaven!!

Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
i tried using the flank steak and my meat came out tough. next time i will use beef ribs. i also added a couple spoons of cornstarch mixed with a bit of water to thicken the batter and cook it faster. next time i will marinate it longer - a few hours - a day. the sauce & recipe is pretty good. i dont have a grill so i just "fried" it in my wok - maybe 8 min?

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
delicious!! i used regular pasta and cooked it a little more so it would be softer. i follwoed rutgercat's instructions and put 4 tbs sugar. i didnt have green onions and i added chopped regular white onions. i held off putting 3 tbs of sesame oil until the end because my mom always said its not healthy to cook sesame oil - it certaintly enhanced the flavor of sesame oil -yummy! i only put about 5 tbs of rice vinegar and used regular hot sauce - 1tbs in place of chili sauce. thank you for the recipie! my dad loved it and usually's hes picky

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
great recipe! so easy and very tasty. ive made this many times when i dont have time. minimal, easy access recipe, easy cooking, and Great tasting way to jazz up plain sausages. i noticed one thing: in step 2 it says to poke the sausages Then boil them - this leaks out all the jiuce and sausages come out quite dry. i suggest boiling them without poking holes- halfway through cut the middle with a knife to check readi-ness and continue cooking as driected :] (please disregard my rating)

Homemade Maple Syrup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
its pretty good. had no maple extract so i used 2 tbs butter. i would recommend maybe only using 1 and a half tbs butter - has a "hot" taste i didnt rly enjoy. after adding the butter w turn down low, simmer for the 3 minutes, and WAIT after the concoction gets frouthy and dies down before turning down the fire

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
i have just made this and i have to say it was excellent. i boiled one large sweet potato and two smaller/thinner ones. i found this enough/equal to one pound. i would suggest omitting maybe 1/3 of the cup of sugar - it was a bit too sweet, but the filling overall tasted delicious! i set to baking time to 56 minutes, checked to see if it was ready, then baked it an extra 3 min. thats an easy way to make sure you dont overcook the pie also, i used a pre baked pie crust and it turned out a little burnt, but made for a crunchier, tastier crust . delish!

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
the final result was too watery. i had about 2 pounds of chicken in bite sized pieces, and i used 3 1/4 cups of evaporated milk in place of heavy cream. i added lots of cornstarch but to no avail...but this recipe gave me another idea for a VERY simple light dinner! step 5, baking the chicken in the preheated oven with oil is DELICIOUS on its own! very moist and smooth texture in the chicken, and very very fragrant taste :] with some cooked rice, theres a light meal!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
they are VERY fudgy. almost stick to roof of your mouth fudgy! as brownies go they are pertty good, but i like my brownies a bit lighter. i used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup applesauce, which worked perfectly. (u shuld always sub applesauce for butter). i suggest lughtening up a little on the sugar: 1 1/2 cup white sugar, and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar worked jsut fine. used 1/2 tsp of salt

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
4.5 stars!!!!! THESE muffins are the bomb! has a subtly crispy outer crust/shell. i think fresh blueberries are the best- i bit into this muffin and the sweet blueberries just added to the deliciousness!! i added a dash of vanilla extract, subbed applesauce for oil, added a half cup of uncooked oatmeal and one cup flour in place of the 1 1/2 cup flour. cant tell the difference. also BE SURE not to overmix the batter or your muffins will turn out hard and dry. had to learn this the hard way ;] if you have fresh bluebrries you MUST try this recipe at least once!!!! p.s. i didnt make the crumb topping at all - the muffins are delicious as they are. i was able to make 6 medium-sized muffins

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
delicious!! made the recipe exactly as made except i used a slightly less amount of vinegar in my milk. if we are talking normal (small dinner palte/restaturant style) sized, this recpie makes about 2 pancakes. not 8 - 2. i suggest doubling this amount if you are feeding more than 2/3 people :D they were amazing! i drizzled with a heavy dose of maple syrup and let it sit for a couple minutes to really soak the panckae with flavor :D moist n light n fluffy!

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
very good the first day. i ate 4 when they came out of the oven! i omitted the raisins, used 2 eggs instead of egg whites and the one egg (too much trouble). i didnt have apple butter so i used 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/4 cup apple sauce in place of the veggie oil. didnt hav whole wheat flour so i used oatmeal instead, and omitted the walnuts and wheat germ. great recipe altogether but, with the carrots and such, it doesnt look too appetizing after day one. i also added a banana- be careful with adding the banana , b/c even though it tastes great it makes the muffins look undercooked even when its ready :] B/c it is a healthy recipe adn still tastes great, ill give it 4 stars instead of 3 1/2

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
not bad. i didnt fry my wings, and only used the sauce portion of this recipe: the sugar and vinegar combination tastes just a LITTLE strange after a day or two. defintiely an easy recipe though-minimal dishes to wash after making this recipe and maybe boiling some spinach and garlic as a side vegie dish
