Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
eh. i ground up the oatmeal in the blender first and used regular 1% instead of soy. i had really sweet strawberries and the results tasted like ice, even with the added vanilla (didnt add sugar). waste of my gorgeous sweet strawberries. i'd rather eat them plain. will not make again. the color of the smoothie was pretty though

Blueberry Breakfast Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
best!!!!! so easy, much "healthier" than store bought syrups and MORE delicious!! you really cant go wrong with this recipe, and I'd choose it over storebought syrups! used on pancakes. this topping is warm, tastes fresh and fruity and is simply delicious! i was suprised that it was so good b/c theres so little ingredients. WILL make again. just one thing it looks kind of gross when its boiling - you mite think your making it wrong but dont let it deter you. its beautiful when its finished

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
Great recipe! i doubled it and accidently read it as THREE tsps of soy sauce and three 1/4 tsps of sesame oil and it still tasted great! didnt add food coloring - its not necessary and used green onions instead of chives. i omit the ground white pepper and instead let the people put it into the serving bowls separately - ppl have different levels of spiciness ;] will make again. very easy, delicious, and comforting

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
I decided to try this recipe for my high school speech team potluck after eating an amazing version of chicken pot pie at Mel's Drive In, and i am happy to say that most of this dish disappeared quickly (although it may have been part of the fact that it was the only hot dish there. What can i say - high school students+potluck = not Iron Chef). I used one can each of cream of chicken and cream of mushroom, can of corn and cut up green beans, and that red box of pie crust. It was pretty good and easy, looked like it took a long time and pretty delicious. I would not make this again for my family, but if there was another potluck, sure, because its fairly cheap and looks like it took a lot more effort than it really did :] If i would make this again I would add more salt to the chicken mix.

Whole Wheat Sweet Potato Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
4 for the healthiness. 3 1/2 for the taste. this is by by no means gross or even average tasting, but its nothing special. you should definitely try this once b/c the sweet potato is such a unique ingredient. i made half with the topping and half w/out and w/ topping definitely tastes better. like others i used half flour and half oatmeal, one half cup brown sugar instead of 1 cup of honey, milk instead of yogurt. definitely halve or even third the topping b/c theres a lot of leftovers. if you are using brown sugar instead of honey definitely add the brown sugar to the dry ingredients instead of simply inserting where the recipe calls for honey. MIX and INCORPORATE the sweet potato well to insure that there arent random clumps of sweet potato in your muffins...not that that happened to me... ;]

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2011
i didnt add the beans, but the sausgae made the soup very salty. next time ill add less sausage and definitely more spinach - it tastes GREAT with the soup and a very good, painless way to get more veggies into your body. and this is a great soup for cold nights -very comforting

Best Ever Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
4 and a half stars. WOW i was hesistant to make this "best ever muffin" b/c it had so little ingredients compared to other muffin recipes. it was incredible. i made half a dozen. for the one cup flour i filled the cup little more than 3/4 with flour, then topped the rest with oatmeal. only used 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, added half a mashed, overripe banana (added a great moistness and a heavenly smell after the muffins were finished). instead of adding the bluebrries to the batter, i poked about 8 directly into each of the filled cups of the muffin tray. preheated to 425 like Katie said, then turned it down to 375 right when i put the muffins in b.c it smelled like they were burning at 400. set the oeven timer to about 22 min so you can check on the muffins. better undercooked than burned, you can always cook them longer :] GREAT muffins, this is defintely going into my make again recipe section!!!

Blueberry, Banana, and Peanut Butter Smoothie

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
delciious!! even my dad, who usually says food is so-so, LOVED this smoothie. he stopped at home in the afternoon briefly, and he took the cup from me and drank in big gulps! i think he loved this smoothie b/c of the peanut butter, which gives the smoothie a really "herng" taste. its a chinese word, and im not sure how to describe it in english except fragrant? full of goodness? and i LOVED this smoothie also! will definitely make again if i have blueberries on a hot/warm day!

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
delicious!!!! i used regualr oil instead of olilve oil, ommited the parmasean cheese and basil b/c i had none, and fresh tomato and spinach. made all the difference. dont be afraid to add more spanich and toamto b/c it tastes GREAT in the recipe!!!!!! mite get a little bit too salty b/c of the sausage, so i suggest using slightly less and chopping it into small(er) peices. SO good, easy, and healthy. grt dinner. Will make again!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
DELICIOUS!! i have made this COUNTLESS times. its the near perfect easy and delicious dinner when you dont have lots of time, or the will to make a complicated dinner. even a 12 yr old can make this. very easy and delicious! like others, i used brown sugar instead of white, extra fresh minced garlic and fresh garlic, and rice vinegar b/c i didnt have cider vinegar. after rinsing my chicken wings, i patted and squeezed extra dry, dry,dry with a paper towel. i baked at 375, the first 25 mins covered with foil (the foil is the part that makes it so delicious), then the last 15 mins uncovered. theres no point in basting it every 10 minutes- waste of time. when i take off the cover after 25 minutes i just spread the sauce around and turn the chicken pieces over. Delish!! end result is so juicy and smooth and fragrant! i could go on about this easy chicken recipe forever!

Roxie's Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
just Absolutely amazing!!! even better than my regular and amazing "Apple and Banana Cupcakes" recipe from this site. i used raisin bran ceral in place of the raisins and bran, 2/4 cup water in place of milk, 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1/2 cup oatmeal, and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar in place of honey. I have to say, this recipe is AMAZING and after eating one right out of the oven, i immediatly ate THREE MORE. i couldnt help it! leaves a delcious sweet taste in your mouth without being overly sweet like candy. i think its the raisin bran that gives it the special taste. so much healthier than the normal recipes i make, AND SO MUCH MORE DELCIOUS! these are irrisistable. the key is to mix as little as possible after adding the bran to keep the muffins moist and soft, and fill the cups to the top with batter! try this recipe!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
delicious! i cut the recipe in half to make 10 muffins - about 20 min, give or take a few. i did 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup oatmeal instead of 1 1/2 cup flour, half applesauce and half oil, and half white sugar and half brown sugar, which seemed to add richness and denseness to the batter and muffins. WONDERFUL! i used one WHOLE zuchinni and didnt drain- the batter soaked up all the moistness and thats what made the recipe TRULY amazing. smelled like heaven even after it had cooled and the next day as well. amazing, dense, sweet bread. who wouldve thought it would be zuchinni of all things? :]

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
great recipe. i used 12 tbs cocoa powder and 3 tbs oil in place of the chocolate, and used 1 1/2 cup white sugar and upped the vanilla to two tsp. they were still very sweet. end result is crisp crust and delicious veryyy fudgy insides. next time i will use 1 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tsp of vanilla. P.S. the brownies stick like crazy even though I used foil and a generous amount of PAM. perhaps pam and flour the foil?

Pineapple Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
3 1/2 stars. from all the rave reviews, i expected this bread to be BEYOND AMAZING. and while it IS deliocus, moist, and dense and BETTER than average breads, theres nothing MIRACULOUS about this recipie. i made one cute mini loaf and ive already eaten half. be generous in the vanilla and cinnamon. make sure to mash up your banana very well, and yes, using FRESH pineapple would make this bread a beyond winner. all in all, very delicious and sweet. P.S i came back here just to add that the crust is delicious!!

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
not bad. i didnt fry my wings, and only used the sauce portion of this recipe: the sugar and vinegar combination tastes just a LITTLE strange after a day or two. defintiely an easy recipe though-minimal dishes to wash after making this recipe and maybe boiling some spinach and garlic as a side vegie dish

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
very good the first day. i ate 4 when they came out of the oven! i omitted the raisins, used 2 eggs instead of egg whites and the one egg (too much trouble). i didnt have apple butter so i used 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/4 cup apple sauce in place of the veggie oil. didnt hav whole wheat flour so i used oatmeal instead, and omitted the walnuts and wheat germ. great recipe altogether but, with the carrots and such, it doesnt look too appetizing after day one. i also added a banana- be careful with adding the banana , b/c even though it tastes great it makes the muffins look undercooked even when its ready :] B/c it is a healthy recipe adn still tastes great, ill give it 4 stars instead of 3 1/2

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
delicious!! made the recipe exactly as made except i used a slightly less amount of vinegar in my milk. if we are talking normal (small dinner palte/restaturant style) sized, this recpie makes about 2 pancakes. not 8 - 2. i suggest doubling this amount if you are feeding more than 2/3 people :D they were amazing! i drizzled with a heavy dose of maple syrup and let it sit for a couple minutes to really soak the panckae with flavor :D moist n light n fluffy!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
4.5 stars!!!!! THESE muffins are the bomb! has a subtly crispy outer crust/shell. i think fresh blueberries are the best- i bit into this muffin and the sweet blueberries just added to the deliciousness!! i added a dash of vanilla extract, subbed applesauce for oil, added a half cup of uncooked oatmeal and one cup flour in place of the 1 1/2 cup flour. cant tell the difference. also BE SURE not to overmix the batter or your muffins will turn out hard and dry. had to learn this the hard way ;] if you have fresh bluebrries you MUST try this recipe at least once!!!! p.s. i didnt make the crumb topping at all - the muffins are delicious as they are. i was able to make 6 medium-sized muffins
