About this Cook
Smart but scatterbrained, I have a diploma in Criminal justice & have two more courses left to obtain my psychology honours degree. I'm married & childless.
My favorite things to cook
I like baking more than cooking I think.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes the best shortbread most of the time at Christmas time. We also have this delightful traditional egg dish Christmas morning which is basically toast, ham, dijon mustard, and eggs in a type of casserole. Spaetzle, sausages & sauerkraut, & roast with roasted root vegetables also come to mind as typical dishes shared amongst our family.
My cooking triumphs
A raspberry truffle cake I spent three days making for my mother's birthday.
My cooking tragedies
An omelet I made for my now husband when we first met out of things he had in his fridge. It was basically eggs, garlic, & this shredded kraft mozzarella mix cheese. It was close to burnt on the outside, bland as ever, & had a thick, chewy cheese center. He ate it though!

Black Forest Cake I
Pretty good recipe, although I found it a bit bland. This may be due to the fact I made my own cherry filling since I couldn't find any of the sour cherry filling. It did turn out a bit dry so perhaps adding some more liquid ingredients would help. I also had to make a second batch of the cake mix since it would not slice into 4 layers. Perhaps it's a fault of mine & not the recipe. Unsure, but it was unnecessarily complicated for me.

Basic Crepes
Couldn't be more satisfied with this recipe. The only thing is sometimes there can be little lumps of flour, but I find using a sifter works well at preventing this.
